I am aged about 2 and 1/4 now.
I have lived in the cold North for 15 months and am settled in.
I hope you all like the pictures, which my DID friends have posted and I apologise for not updating you sooner.Life is very busy here in Belfast.
We lost a few of our oldie rescue dog pals last year and some new ones have arrived.
I thought it was great, as this time, I could show them the ropes of this mad dog house. The Yorkie in the picture above is one of the recent intake-he is called Joey and came from A Dogs Life rescue in Dublin.
He is a lot older than I am(9) but we get on well and he takes care of me.The other picture is of me playing with a rabbit toy, which I took off another resident.
I wrestle with my pals and am often the referee-this is a super new game I have learned.I have a harness for walking , as I am still not confident enough to come back to the whistle-but my MUM is patient and if it happens or not, she loves me anyway. There is another rescue , a JRT, who is an escape artist and mad-so I do not feel as bad, as the 2 of us walk together in harness and feel secure together. We get less muddy than the other ones, who get covered in mud each day in the fields where we walk and see rabbits-yeeeeeeeee-real ones!
I still can be a bit jittery on occasions, but my owner is patient and says she has had much worse than me and some have never fully recovered from trauma, but she loves us all anyway.
Thank you to all who have followed my story and wish you all a happy 2015 and rest of your lives! Hugs and licks from Bonnie Bichon in Belfast-my forever home.
(JUST ME AND 6 OTHERS lol!!)carridogMemberHello friends in DID.
Bonnie here in Belfast.
This is me with my 1 eyed rescue pal Rua.
We are the same size and we often use each other as sleeping pillows.carridogMemberSo much of a change since 20 dec 2013 -day of her arrival.
She is a different dog.
Yesterday 2 more miracles-pushed into the pack to get cuddles from my mum on a visit.
Then got lifted and cuddled by a fellow bichon owner.and finally, let me give her her first bath.
We love her so much-thanks DID.carridogMemberWell, another update from Bonnie Bichon.
She is now a firm member of the family.
Yesterday, she was taking a good search in the garden and was having more difficulty than normal making her way through the flaps in the doors to outside-means she can move freely to the lounge kitchen and garden as she chooses-including at night-this has meant that her house training has nearly reached 100%.
So I was about to go and see what she was up to, when she gave a big push through flap 2 into the lounge and there she stood, tail flapping, big smile on her wee face and she lay down at my feet a huge dead rat. I just laughed-she was so proud of herself and has certainly earned her keep for the foreseeable future LOLThen today, she allowed me to cut some more of her coat, around her back, top of her wee head, ears(very delicate area!) and her sides. We are getting there slowly but surely.
Her confidence grows and she is so pleased when I praise her-this is a big thing for her, as she wants to touch me so much, but often, as she did with her foster mum, just bolts!
However, the bolts are less dramatic as time goes on and she turns and comes back inside very quickly! She sleeps upside down in her basket, snores with contentment and loves her food-she tried tuna today and it was a great hit.
So, in short, Bonnie Bichon is becoming a much less stressed girl and more important, we love her to pieces!!
carridogMemberanother positive happening today…..
she let me cut some of her hair-she is going from strength to strength.we love her dearly and her cheeky character is emerging every day.
so glad she came into our lives.carridogMemberHello to all DID folks from Bonnie Bichon frise, now aged 1 year old.
First of all may I wish you all a happy 2014.I had a quiet but happy xmas with my dog pals, my new human grannie and Angela.
I have never had such a calm time in my life. I have made progress but I still have a long way to go yet and I am doing my best to please my new owner, as she is so patient with me!
-I allow my owner to put my rain coat on, when I am going walkies with the dogpals; I have only nipped her once, but she did not mind.
-I now eat my meals in my designated area, (big word for such a small dog LOL)-this allows me to eat at my own pace and the dogpals can get their food too.
-I go into the hall with the wee dogs to get my owner to put my dog lead on-then (and this is great)I go outside with the other smallies and we jump into the car and I go to my spot where I am secured down like the others! This means I am safe in the car.
-I love my walks in the park but more so in the open fields-I am still on the extenda lead but doing well.
-I have now learned to take treats direct from the owner’s fingers and not run away.
-I have started to play wrestling with the wee dog pals and wag my tail-this really made my owner happy and smile a lot!
-I eat all my food up and have a great appetite.
-I do some of my jobbies in the garden as I have learned to go through the 2 flaps, so I can go out in the night or anytime I need to.
-I like to get dried by my owner when it rains, but am still a bit nervous of this.
-I also snuggle up with the big dogpals and they like me
-I let my owner snip a bit of hair from my face as it was going into my eyes-I need to work on this as I really do need a bath and haircut but I am still too scared to trust anyone…..this will take me a while yet!So in short, I am making good steady progress and am allowed to make mistakes at times eg pee on the rugs, but I so want to please my owner and I show her I love her too, when I lick her fingers to tell her I want to be stroked!!
Life is good and thank you all for your interest in my wee life, especially Andrea-hope she likes the progress I am making and has maybe taken on another lost foster to work her magic on-cos it was so good for me!
Licks , snuffles and wags from Bonnie bichon in Belfast.
carridogMemberBonnie has had a wonderful Xmas with all her doggie pals.
She is settled in well and loved by all.
Thanks to all involved in her rescue and wishing you a happy new year and more saved dogs in 2014.
carridogMemberIt’s Boxing Day.
Update on Bonnie Bichon…….she has had a super Christmas Day with the other 6 dog friends.
Progress is steady and on 25 th she decided that she wanted to get in the back of my car with the other dogs.
She is learning so fast!
Today she came into the entrance hall where all the dogs get put onto their leads before they get into the car and guess who pushed into the queue?
yup-Bonnie Bichon. She now sits on the sofa with the dogs and me and over Xmas let my mum stroke her and is asleep on her knee as I type.
What amazing progress-she has fitted in so well in every way-loves her grub and knows her spot to eat it in now too!!
So I send you all best wishes from Bonnie Bichon and her new friends for the new year and thank you to all who saved my life.
From Bonnie aged 11 months in Belfast xx
carridogMemberBonnie just in from a wet short walk-managed to get waterproof coat on her.
She walked well on extenda lead and even sniffed a fellow walker ,male, in the park!!A female friend called to see her with a gift and amongst the welcome pack was…guess who??…yep-my friend is a dog lady and Bonnie went to lick her hand.
She is doing so well-have no fears foster lady!! xx
Love to all for Xmas xcarridogMemberWell Bonnie is here at last.
We wish to thank Maurarua for helping with the transport of Bonnie on such a wet and windy day.Bonnie sat in the front seat as we drove back from Dundalk to Belfast-she seemed quite at ease.
She met my crew of dogs and they all said their welcomes in the garden(well fenced and 13 ‘ high).
As I made tea for us all, she seemed quite relaxed.
She ate well in an area where she can eat in peace-all my crew have designated feeding areas, so there is no hassle when new ones arrive.
She finished her tea and then got on the sofa with Gremlin, my wee packleader and all was well.I hope that the foster lady will volunteer to look after another troubled soul, as her impact on this wee dog is evident.
Bonnie is a bit more restless tonight-but think it is the wind and storms outside.
She has had her nite snack and a hoping she will settle on the sofa or in any of the beds on offer after I turn in myself. Will keep you all updated on her progress. Thank you and nite nite from us all in windswept Belfast tonight xx
carridogMemberBonnie on her way.
What a dote!!
photo 5.JPGcarridogMemberBonnie has now recovered from her operation.
She is ready for her new home and will be coming to me end of this week, just in time for her Xmas dinner!!
Thanks to all in DID, Kathy, Claire, not forgetting the boss lady Marie and especially Andrea, her foster mum, for all the loving care she has been shown in her recovery from "the bad times".
Will keep you updated xxx
carridogMemberThank you all for your kind words.
I know it will be very hard for Bonnie’s foster home to hand her to me.
However, I can assure you all that my dog family of rescues will make her so happy and loved(not to mention the zoo keeper lol)And of course I will give you all regular updates as she continues to progress. I am now retired too, so she will never be alone.
carridogMemberMy other rescue dogs and I are over the moon
We are going to adopt wee Bonnie, as soon as she has been spayed.
So hoping to have her with us forever in a week or 2.
And forever and forever AMEN.
Thank you all the ladies in DID-you have made our day x
Happy Xmas to you all.carridogMemberYou foster ladies have done such a wonderful job with wee Bonnie.
It takes such love and patience to do this.
I have done this so many times in my life and get so much joy when a lick or a nudge ask for more. It makes it so worthwhile.
Am hoping to be able to help Bonnie in the next part of her life!!??
