Just to let you all know that Brian is doing really well still, though is quite an old man now and was likely older than first estimated! Not that we care a hoot – he is the best dog we have ever had in the family and we’ve had a fair few! My father is now in a nursing home so Brian is my Mum’s protector, friend and guardian – a one in a million dog…..huge thanks to DID for allowing us to be his family. XX
Various up to 10th Oct 2013 001.JPGbazbarneyMemberHere is a picture of the lovely Brian, taken a couple of days ago….
He is our little Irish Hero!
Various 006.JPGbazbarneyMemberBrian wants to say hello from the UK!! He’s as beautiful and happy as ever and we absolutely adore him. Looking a bit older and greyer but still as wonderful.
bazbarneyMemberAbsolutely heartbreaking that any human being could have allowed this poor creature to be so starved that her little body failed her….what kind of mentality allows that? At least she knew kindness and compassion for a week…RIP little lady, your troubles are over now.
bazbarneyMemberI just love the look of Chloe….I keep going back to her…she is SO my kind of dog but I have 2 spollies and a beardie x already. Do I have room for one more over here?!!
bazbarneyMemberYes, this was the same Brian! There is only one Brian! Certainly an older boy and his eyes are beginning to look a little cloudy but he is as beautiful as ever. He was clipped recently, hence the coat. He is our diamond…a million THANK YOUs for saving him from the pound.
bazbarneyMemberHello from the freezing cold UK. For those of you who remember Brian who was rescued from the pound, sorry but i cannot find his old thread? He went into foster with Linda and we had him sent over to the UK on 26th March 2010. He is adorable and adored. Sadly he lost his 15yo girlfriend this week but when the time is right, we may be back to DID for a golden oldie girl.
Thanks to you all for a wonderful little dog who means the world to us all here in Kent.

2012-02-11 10.12.01.jpgbazbarneyMemberMy heart goes out to you all. I lost my beloved Molly to a road traffic accident in January, another Irish rescue that we had sent over to the UK from Mayo SPCA. We miss her dreadfully but the arrival of two other little girl spollies from Mayo has helped heal the pain, knowing that we’ve given a good home to other needy souls. Thinking of you….
bazbarneyMemberMy heart goes out to you at this sad time. I followed little Hallie with great interest and when she first appeared on the site, was sorely tempted to make enquiries but you had beaten me to it! You gave her a truly lovely life and she couldnt have asked for a better parent!
Run free little girl……..
bazbarneyMemberIt is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I have to tell you that my friend lost her beloved Ruby last week after nearly two and a half years. She had a serious stroke and her heart was failing and the kindest thing was to let her go peacefully. We will never know exactly how old she was but our vets felt she was probably older than we first anticipated.
She was a one in a million….our heartfelt thanks to "Tigger" for saving her from the pound and fostering until she came to the UK. She was a one in a million who is missed terribly.
Run free Ruby…..we love you.
bazbarneyMemberPleeeeeease can I have an update on dear little Nessa….I must look at her photos 10 times a day!!
bazbarneyMemberThank you for your help with this one too. I have also got my eye on Oona who is currently still in the pound.
Any information on how she interacts with other dogs would be greatly appreciated. My two girls are both very submissive and easy going and I want to keep it that way!!
Brian lives with my Mum and his sister Millie…she and he are like a little old couple!! So funny together, mumbling under their breath and telling each other off.
Look forward to an update.
bazbarneyMemberI have fallen in love with Nessa. I am looking for my number 3 and wonder how she is with other girlie dogs?
I also have 3 cats.
We have Brian the spollie in our family and two of my friends have DID dogs.
I look forward to hearing more about her as i’d love to bring her over to the UK…….!
bazbarneyMemberI am very taken with Maddie….she looks a typical Spaniel x collie. I have a spollie, a delightful little soul, so clever and willing. And of course Brian who came over from you to us in the UK last March is a spollie too……am seriously tempted to submit an application form.
bazbarneyMemberHello from the UK!
It was a year ago today that Brian came into our lives and boy, what a great little dog he has proved to be….
Everyone that has come into contact with him has fallen in love. He is a true star of a dog, has a beautiful soft nature and a kind, sweet face.
He gets on well with everyone, human and canine and we love him dearly.
Thank you Dogs in Distress for the best and easiest Irish Rescue we have had to date – we are besotted.
Maybe one day we’ll be back for another…….
