Just been reading about Rusty, so sad to read the latest news, thoughts are with you.
annieoMemberBran had his neutering op last week and is doing great, not sure the cone is serving any purpose as he is a very flexible guy, plus he doesnt seem to have heard the vet telling him to take it easy. He has developed a keen interest in shoes of all sorts and he has been caught doing high speed laps of the house with them on board. Wooden floors and turning corners/stopping have been a bit of a problem but he doesn’t seem deterred, maybe he thinks the cone is a crash helmet!

annieoMemberWell we collected this lovely young guy from the wonderful Liz and Shay who had been taking such good care of him since he was rescued before Christmas, I know Liz had a tear in her eye as he left and I know why! Comet/Bran is a very sweet and lovable pup and we are delighted to welcome him to be part of our family. He is full of beans, handsome, clever, silly, funny and great company. We are still trying to work out his parentage, definitely a lot of black lab but the vet reckons a bit of lurcher too (probably explains his spring loaded paws!). Whatever… time will tell. He has settled so easily no doubt because he was so well cared for by his foster family and was even fully house trained, happy days, Thanks Liz . So far we know he loves his toys, is afraid of the wind, mystified by snow, a bit nervous in the car, totally affectionate, slightly mad, will eat anything (legitamite or not) at any opportunity, loves hugs and games, and is generally an all round happy little man. He is hard to photograph cos he doesn’t stay still for long and because he just comes out as a black blob but here are a couple I did manage to get. Welcome to your new home Bran.

bran2.jpgannieoMemberWe said goodbye to our lovely little guest today, she has gone to her forever home with Maria for whom it was love at first sight when she met Raeleigh on the home visit. I have no doubt that Raeleigh has gone to the doggie Ritz and will be a much pampered and loved addition to Maria’s family. We will miss all the fun and love she gave to us in the last few weeks especially when our own lovely Jenny passed peacefully away recently- her cheeky little face and wagging tale cheered us all up and helped us through. On behalf of Raeleigh I would like to thank the wonderful people at Terenure Veterinary Hospital who took such good care of her when she was being spayed and afterwards, and as always all the truly brilliant DID volunteers for their fantastic selfless work.
Raeleigh barca.jpgannieoMemberRaeleigh just forgot to say HAPPY NEW YEAR and a big thank you to Kathy and all of the people in DID for taking such good care of her and her foster family.
Rayleigh2 (1).jpgannieoMemberRaeleigh has settled well, she is a lively, curious little girl, follows every conversation with her ears and likes to be part of any action going on, she is also proving to be a real lapdog, she just loves sitting and snoozing on everyone’s lap and of course getting lots of pets and cuddles. She is very good on the lead and even went up the mountains with us the other day although with her little legs she prefers a quick trot around the block on a nice flat surface, definitely a city slicker! She travels in her little box as her owner said she can occasionally get car sick but we have been lucky so far. She sits quietly in her box and behaves perfectly. She is not used to other dogs and is not too impressed with our blind and deaf old lady who luckily ignores her for the most part but I would think she would prefer to be part of a ‘one dog’ family as she likes lots of attention.
She is off to be spayed on Wed so fingers crossed she’ll come bouncing through!!

40 foot.jpgannieoMemberWell Raeleigh has been with us for a few days now and is a lovely little girl. She was a bit nervous at first and still follows me around fairly constantly but she also loves being up on everyone’s lap and getting lots of pets. She has decided that she doesn’t like having doors closed on her at night time so she has taken up residence on the top step of the stairs and this is also her preferred place to sit when we are out so that she can keep an eye on everything. She is also a great little guard dog and will bark loudly if someone she doesn’t recognise comes in. Of course when she realises it’s one of her foster family she is wild with delight and gives us all the best welcome ever!
d21.jpgannieoMemberI collected this pretty little girl from her previous owner yesterday. She really is a petite little lady with a beautiful coat and the most wonderful pom tail. She was surrendered because her owner felt that due to changes in her circumstances she was unable to give Raleigh the time and attention she deserves. And she does love attention!! Looks for lots of pets and cuddles and so far has eaten well and slept peacefully last night. Will update more when we get to know each other better.
