Today is already a great day for Jessie – whom we’ve renamed POPPY as we kept calling her "puppy" :D

Here are our achievements for the day, and it’s only 9am!

    1. No accident during the night or in the morning as we were getting ready to go for a toilet. Yeay!
    2. She did her toilet outside after a short enough time – this is another thing we have to learn, going to the toilet when out on walks. :)
    3. She ate her food out of the bowl after watching Jack eat his, another big yeay! (Before she was only eating when hand fed, or when food was thrown on the ground…)

Right now she’s playing with all the toys in rotation and working away at the antler – it shall be annihalted soon! Another achievement in itself. ;)

We just love this little girl. :) She’s smart, funny and very very well behaved even being at the very beginning of her training. Since she arrived on Monday, she has learned to sit, lie down and go to her bed. Her recall in the house is also already pretty good and she’s learned to leave things when she hears "ah-ah" (we’ll associate the word "leave" soon). She’s very responsive to training as she loves her cuddles and rewards and will be a beautiful pet for any family, even with young children, given that training is continued. At this point, like any puppy, she can get a little excited and jump up, but she’s still quite gentle even when she does. She’ll soon learn that that is not an appropriate way to greet people or show them affection.

    We’re in love. :)

Everyone’s happy and tired after a walk in the forest.

Oh haha, we’re definitely feeling better tonight! She’s assembled herself quite a selection of Jack’s toys (and an antler that is by all accounts delicious). Makes me so happy to see! :D

Poor Jessie’s had a nervous day today… As I mentioned before, she’s constantly trying to work out her surroundings and the humans around her, and she just couldn’t understand what was happening to her. Then finally, during a nice long walk in the fields this afternoon, she took her cues from our Jack (run run run run run run run!) and came out of her shell, running and jumping and smiling! She’s been less worried since, and I’m confident she’ll be the same happy and funny little pup she was last night before the worry hit in no time! Here she is crashed out on my husband’s chair… He just never gets to sit in it as it’s always occupied by one of the furry folks!

After the excitement of meeting her foster family and furry brothers last night, Jesse is exhausted and a little confused today… This is her favourite place and pastime for now. She’s a very smart doggie who’s clearly trying to work out what’s happening, you can see her watching and thinking… We cannot wait what puppy mischief she’ll get up to once she finds her feet. :)

Jessie’s just arrived a few hours ago and has already shown herself to be a smart and hilarious little girl with a beautiful trusting temperament. She doesn’t show any interest in our cat and is trying so hard to make friends with our dog Jack who is a little aloof tonight. Poor Jessie. :) Here’s a picture of her gorgeous little face and her amazing floppy ears. :D

Here are a few pics of Shelly (I should’ve mentioned – we changed her name slightly, she doesn’t mind!) and Jack. Notice in the second picture how Jack and Shelly are squeezed into the smaller dog bed and Tuck the cat taking up the huge dog bed in behind. Such placid generous dogs! :D

Shelby has been with us for about a week now and we’re falling in love with her more and more each day. She is the funniest happiest little dog, full of kisses and love. She is great with our cat (and that’s a hard compliment to get because our cat is quite cantankerous!) and great with her foster brother Jack. She is fully house trained, we didn’t have a single accident! She’s happy to just potter around the house or lie on the couch, and sometimes even needs a little convincing to go for walks, but taking Jack as an example, she’s learning fast! She’s great on the lead and puts our Jack to shame, who can’t walk in a straight line to save his life… :D
She’s a little shy in new surroundings and generally doesn’t seem to be used to walks, running around and just being curious and silly, but again Jack is at hand to teach her all those things as he’s got plenty silliness for two! ;)

Hi everyone, here’s an update on Lucy. Lucy has been with us for just over two weeks and she has been a joy to have around from day one. I never would have though that fostering could be this easy! We’re going on regular walks following our own dog’s routine, and owing to exercise and low fat/high protein food, her waist is re-appearing and her coat is silky and shiny again. She’s also getting a supplement to help with her mobility, and it DOES WORK! She’s moving like a young one again, her eyes aren’t cloudy or weepy anymore, and she’s definitely livelier since she’s been on it (just a week now). There’s also some jumping and running and happy barking when off the lead, and her joy puts a smile on our faces every time. Lucy would simply be perfect for anyone looking for a more settled yet fun companion who has lots of love and loyalty to give.
Yesterday was beach walk day and a great time was had by all. ;)

Hi there, I thought I’d post an update on Lucy the bear (as we’ve taken to calling her) :) Lucy has come out of her shell a lot and every morning when we go downstairs to say hello we get a tail wag! This might not sound like a great achievement, but Lucy was really very sad and confused in the beginning so it’s great to see her happier. As I mentioned before she is very very well behaved but we’ve learned now that she’s quite a character too! She likes to dance with people (and will tell you so), she really does like her food a lot :D although she’s as polite a beggar as ever, and she still likes the boys. ;) When it comes to walks she sometimes has to be convinced that it’s worth her while – treats, as with most dogs, do the trick – but once she’s up and moving she can keep pace with our crazy springer. She would be ideal for an older person who likes to go for leisurely walks and potter around the garden as she’s happy just hanging around people without ever being a nuisance or jumping into the vegetable beds as our own dog still likes to do sometimes ;) Below are some pictures of fun training in the park and a well-deserved chewy bone after.

Hi everyone, here are a few pics of Lucy and Jack, our own dog. They’re both seasoned (but very polite) beggars as you can see. Last night Lucy in particular was sitting beside the table for half an hour waiting for some scrap to fall on the floor. However we discovered she likes raw carrot and courgette too so no salty ham for the old lady (or Jack). ;) We have yet to take her to the vets but my guess would be she’s carrying a bit too much weight, which might be explained by the begging. The other pic is of Lucy and Jack doing what they’re supposed to do – work :) As they’re both working dogs I figured they might have fun trying to get their food out of the Kongs, and indeed there was some tail-wagging once I’d shown her how the Kong works. She is such a sweet dog and still a bit sad from what happened to her, the tail only comes up every now and then, but she’ll get better once she understands that she’s safe and once she has a routine. She’s fully house trained and there haven’t been any accidents. She’s also brilliant with the cat who will come up to her and sniff her face and feet (because he’s that kind of fool). Also, talk about teaching an old dog new tricks! She’s very well behaved but not really trained to commands, however she learned the sit and come here commands within minutes!
