Just to update you on how Zoe is doing! She is just a dream dog, as good as gold! She came home with us on the 10th of October, as skinny as a rake and afraid of her own shadow! She is eating very well, still slim but you can’t count her bones anymore and She fits in to her new collar. She loves to play fetch with our two boys and when she gets tired she puts her paw on the ball but will always let you take it!
She knows when it is time for her walk, Ben forgot one day and she sat at the door with her ball in her mouth (so cute!) She gets on great with all the other dogs in our estate and she has made friends in all the parks we have brought her, she is so tall she scares other small dogs but they quickly realise she is a gentle giant. She is growing more confident each day and will approach new people who come to visit more quickly than when she first came home.
Thanks so much to all at DID for looking after Zoe so well, especially her foster Mum, Catherine, who was so kind to her for those tramatic few weeks and Suzi for her pre and post op. care. Zoe never even flinched when Suzi took out her stitches or gave her the booster injections! Thanks again guys and keep up the good work!

October 31, 2009 at 11:13 pm #89295Cathy ByrneMemberTalk about a small world!
My little niece and nephew Declan and Claire pal around with your children and I am getting regular updates on your brilliant new doggie and how much she loves everyone and they love her.
There is absolutely no doubt that your family was the perfect forever family for Zoe (and all the children in the neighbourhood) by the sound of all the stories I am hearing.
Congrats to all and many years of love and licks!November 1, 2009 at 10:51 am #89302BenDeeMemberAh thanks Cathy! I had only put the update on and the following day Claire told me you showed her Zoe on the website and Claire told me ‘you know you can write about Zoe!’
Sure, we all went Trick or Treating together last night and watched the firework display (Thanks to Pat and Gary). I was talking to your Mam about Zoe, (she stayed in and watched tele! )
I will be doing school run tomorrow so I will tell Declan and Claire we were in touch! Pop in and meet Zoe any time!
November 2, 2009 at 12:50 am #89336Cathy ByrneMemberI will indeed and Claire will be delighted to think that I was speaking to Zoes mammy.I have to say in fairness Claire and Declan understand totally what I do with the babies who come to stay with me and why they are here. Now although she and Declan would have loved Zoe to bits anyway she probably gets extra cuddles because they cannot understand why somebody would not want such a lovely doggie,Claire told me she was glad they didn’t want her because now you have her instead and you do want her(her words not mine).
Out of the mouths of Babes!November 3, 2009 at 7:46 pm #89379BenDeeMemberAh!! that is just so typical Claire! heart of gold – it runs in the family! Declan and Claire were telling me all about the pups you were fostering. I told Claire she must have your talent with dogs, Zoe just adores her, she was jumping all over her on Monday, I am trying to get her not to jump up, she is so tall she could knock someone over. Denise was telling me Ben the dog will do anything for Claire!! She must have DID blood in her!!!
November 3, 2009 at 10:40 pm #89403okellycaMemberHey Ben & Dee & boys,
I’m so delighted to hear how Zoe’s doing, it’s lovely to hear about fosters that have stopped chez Botanic Avenue and she was definitely one of the gentlest souls that ever stayed with us! I had a great feeling about you and her, I love when it works out Well done for plumping her up, looking forward to seeing pics if you get a chance. Boo misses having a firm older sister to play with and put manners on him, he’s still bouncing off the walls! Thanks for the updates, all the best, Boo n C & G.November 5, 2009 at 5:16 pm #89434BenDeeMemberHi C & G and Boo!
Thanks so much for the loving care given to Zoe in those first traumatic weeks! She has come on in leaps and bounds! She is slowly putting on weight.
Do you remember how scared of Ben she was that first day, well now, if Zoe had a little finger Ben would be wrapped around it. He makes her special meals to build her up and we get the left overs! Zoe is totally loyal to him and follows him everywhere (I knew he would restore her trust in men!)
Zoe loves to play with other dogs in the park so I am sure she does miss Boo so give him a lick and a cuddle from her. She is best on the lead for Scott (9) and she doesn’t pull him at all!!
Keep up the good work and take care,
Ben, Dee, Scott, Lee & Zoe
