wes2.JPGOctober 4, 2011 at 11:12 am #106587DID RescueKeymasterThis is one fantastic little man.
He is great with all the other dogs and is very polite about wanting to play or be invited.
He loves children and again is very gentle.
He is good on the lead but hits the deck and lies on his belly every now and then but it does not take much encouragement for him to move along. He has good recall and stays with the others. He is not high energy either one he has his walks he is happy to chill out.
House -training is getting there. He loves his food and cleans his bowl. He is just trying to get the hang of treats.
He does not know what toys are at all.Wesley is very gentle, sweet, loving and easy going. All this boy wants is to be part of a family and be loved.
He will make a really great addition to a family.October 7, 2011 at 12:07 pm #106608kildarenicolaMemberHe looks lovely
Can I ask a question? Being a terrier x collie, is Wesley terrier-sized or collie-sized?Many thanks,
Nicola
October 10, 2011 at 12:37 pm #106599DID RescueKeymasterHe is not full Collie size, he would be nearly up to your knee.
He is in the vets at the moment having been neutered and chipped.
I will measure him when I collect him.October 14, 2011 at 2:21 pm #106683taraMemberThe very handsome Wesley enjoying a pack walk in the forest.

wes 4.JPGOctober 14, 2011 at 5:17 pm #106656DID RescueKeymasterWhat a great little man
He had his first trip to a forest yesterday and I think he thought he died and this must be doggie Heaven.
He totally got into the swing of things, jumping over logs, in and out of bushes and even met a few new canine friends who he had a little play with.
Wes is such a sociable and gentle boy.Today we went to Donadea and Wes has totally fallen in luvvv with a Blonde Lurcher called Leyla.
His short little legs were worn out trying to keep up with this livley long legged female.
Photos to follow.

wes and the pack.JPGOctober 14, 2011 at 9:17 pm #106693DID RescueKeymasterTypical in the last photo the only dog looking in my direction and paying attention does not belong to me……..That is Leyla Wesley’s new woman.
He is out on the couch fast asleep after his marathon today.
I think he may start weight lifting tomorrow just so he will be able to keep up with this new woman in his life.
He has no idea that he is entering his last few days of freedom…….like making a decision, suiting himself, to sleep or not to sleep from now on it’s compromise all the way.I am sure they will make a lovely couple.

The organization for me is unique in that it offers you a detailed account of each dogs temperament in a effort to make the very best match for the dogs needs as well as the family needs. No two families are the same and equally no two dogs are. In getting that so right Dogs in Distress managed to make a perfect match for our family. We already had a rescue lurcher . So we had to find a mate for our lurcher and a friend for our son. He participates in the upkeep of the dogs feeding them and walking them. Its been a great way for him to learn some responsibility, respect and to get out in the fresh air and enjoy exercise without realizing it. Little Wesley our collie cavalier mix is doing very well and is really settling in nicely and loves his new mate. Its so amusing watching them play and because our lurcher had a particularly hard start to life its unbelievable how he has managed to bring out the confidence in her where I simply hadn’t managed to reach. That’s whats so great about taking a rescue dog from “Dogs in Distress” its indescribable how it feels to give them a loving home and truly they don’t ask for much just a warm place to sleep a little walk and lets face we all need that and some food and water. I can’t believe how much “dogs in distress” went out of their way to find us the right dog and all on such a voluntary basis. The group really want to help these dogs. A special thanks to Alison Marie and Claire. We’re Delighted Carol pat luke and layla and Wesley too x
November 12, 2011 at 6:17 pm #107104clairefMemberWes and Layla popped in to say hello to Marie today. Carol reports that Wes and Layla are true friends and do everything together. Where one goes the other follows! Wes continues to shine and his wonderful personality means he is never without admirers!

I was so delighted to see him today and it’s so good to see how he has bonded with Leyla and she with him.
He also loves his new mammy
She described him today as A DREAM DOG and I agreeBefore Wes arrived on the scene Leyla was a bit nervous in some situations but having small bro around has brought her out of herself which is great as Wes was not the most confident button in the box.
A really great Happy Ending.
We will meet up again for a hike around DonadeaJanuary 28, 2012 at 10:06 am #108130kaydoyleMemberIts a hard life
