In his condition you would expect a scared fella but no, he is such a happy dog, very friendly and a big softy! All he wanted was cuddles. He is in an absolutely shocking state, pics cant show just how bad he is…. whats left of his coat is just matts….his skin like leather from where fur use to be….and he is so thin….. Yet he puts on a happy face and acts like nothing is wrong. He really puts us humans to shame!!!!
PLEASE someone help him…. he so deserves to be loved and adored.

July 28, 2012 at 8:29 am #110712kaydoyleMemberThis lovely lad is now called Cas and is doing very well. He hadn’t been neutered which was causing a hormonal imbalance which was also probobly causing his skin condition
He has since been neutered and clipped and is happy and a big softy

Here an update on Trundle, now called Bas (short for Sebastiaan) a Dutch name.
The day after we got Bas from the pound, he was neutered. It turned out that one of his testicles was enormous swollen while the other was very small. In combination with a swollen prostate, swollen nipples and hairloss all over his body, the vet was quite sure he was over producing estrogen. He has been on various meds but is now medicine free. His hair is start to grow back in certain areas. Not sure if it will come back every where but that is not very important.
Bas is still over excited with other dogs. Not sure if that is because of the hormonal imbalance or just behaviour. We are working on that and he has a room for himself because we can’t mix him yet with our other 3 dogs. We walk him at least 3 times a day and he is getting fitter.
His hindlegs and lower body are very weak. But that will improve too in time. So far our priorities are to get him fit and to get him better with other dogs so he can go off the lead and later be mixed with our other dogs.
Regarding his hips: he is not in pain and improving slowly so we decided to wait with x-rays etcetera till: or he is fitter or if he is getting worse/in pain.Pff that is the medical part.
He is a lovely dog, well behaved with people and very easy going. We love him to bits and have him now lead trained. He is a dote to walk, untill you meet other dogs bu we are getting there! We have the feeling that it will be ok in time and we have the time.
He loves to be scratched on his chest and will guide your hand there. So sweet. He was in a lot of pain when we got him but still he let me handle/touch him. He is a real man’s dog and he has a preference for my partner Jack. Still we make sure that we both ‘work’ with him and I am the one who feeds him to prevent problems later.
We are delighted with him!!!Thank you for helping us to get him!

He will not let you down and am sure he will re-pay the kindness you are giving him a millions times over. Great up-date after the horrific start to this story, very well done and I know you will keep up the great work. Love his full name, it suits him very well, even the short version suits him. The world needs people like you

This morning we had Bas to be put asleep. He turned out to be riddled with cancer. He lost control over his hind legs, his bladder was under enormous pressure and he was in a lot of pain. We are heartbroken. He was such a beautiful guy. So friendly and so easy to please. And he always made an effort to please us. Thankfully he didn’t suffer for long.
His hair was growing back everywhere and he was getting fitter and fitter. I just wish he had more time to enjoy a good life. Especially swimming was one of his big favorites .We are very happy and grateful he was part of our family and he has a special place in our heart.
Thank you again for helping us to adopt him.
Run free little man

October 15, 2012 at 11:54 am #111826IndiannaMemberAt least you were part of a nice pack. You belonged. Great pity you didn’t have longer to enjoy more of a cared for life with your pack. A very sad time
October 15, 2012 at 12:05 pm #111828clairefMemberThe photos tell this boys story more than words ever could.
He lived his life being uncared for and just when it seemed that he would have the sorry end to complete his sorry life a ray of hope shone for this chap. Despite all that had passed Yvette offered this boy the chance to be loved and to finally be cared for as he should have been from the start.
Yvette and her family showed him love and above all patience. They took the time to move at his pace and loved him for what he could give. I am so touched that this boy got to experience kindness and despite all else that he felt loved.
I am so sorry to hear you have lost him so soon after finding him. Thank you for all that you did and for allowing this boy to leave the world knowing at least one act of kindness.
