Well we had our darling Roxie a year in March – she was originally called Essjay and was fostered by Susied.
Don’t know where the last 14 months have gone . But I wouldn’t change a minute of them. She has come on so much in the last year at times its hard to believe she was once such a nervous scared dog. But she got a good start in Sue’s house with her mental gang .
It was a year with more lows then highs but thankfully all the hard work is now paying off as we have a sturdy young rottweiler on our hands. She can still be nervous at times of sudden movements and loud noises but never reacts in a negative way……the kittens bully her. We were planning on bringing her over to England in July to get a hip replacement but, thankfully at the moment it is not needed.
She has a very bad case of hip Dysplasia and has bone deformity on her left hip, so she has been attending hydrotherapy twice a week since September 08, has had a course of cartefen injections, has had a course of acupuncture, is on Hill J/d food and also on cosequin ds daily. Its been a struggle but thankfully we have managed to build up the muscle around her hip so much that it is now supporting her hip and the vet in England feels that while she is this fit there is no need to carry out a hip replacement as there is no guarantee with them on a large breed dog. We have managed to keep her weight down so she is stunning slim rottie.
She greets everyone that comes into the house where before she would hide – mind you she does have the other 2 resident canine hooligans to copy and they are ALL partners in crime as well as the 5 cats. We have 3 kittens in the house at the moment and she loves nothing better then giving a good old ear wash to the kittens, the kittens now headbutt her.
Hopefully Roxie will be around for many more years to come – I know at one stage they said we would be doing well to get her to 1st birthday.
Sue Roxie said she has lots of sloppy kisses built up for you for tomorrow night
