Best wishes to Rossi & Tess xJanuary 25, 2014 at 11:47 pm #119056DID RescueKeymasterWOW who is looking very proud, confident and fantastic.
A long way from where you started and so much progress. Now you are also part of a real family, your very own one
Great photoJanuary 26, 2014 at 2:50 pm #119063LuvMyFurKidsMemberVelvet and I thank you all ladies for your lovely words….
Indianna – She is doing fantastic off of all of her medication (touching wood) with no problems to date
Angela – as for that tail it a magnet for all loose debris in the forest when she gets weighed down by all the extra luggage she walks right in front of me and slows her pace till its all removed not wanting to stop and miss out on any of the fun frolicking in forrest.
Marie – confidence ….she is sometimes over confident when she knows the pack are behind her….if she becomes unruly we sometimes run the other way when she is only on her way to someone and when she realises she is on her own she quickly retreats…..but if someone comes up on us un-noticed she can be very vocal and she is shown that the person if willing isn’t a threat to her or me and then is rewarded with lots of attention by her new friend and treats from me!
Along way indeed from the skeleton that DID took in and when she arrived with me spent three days doing her best Shirley Valentine impression looking at the wall….She also is a good teacher to the young pups or over excited dogs that come into foster with us that not every dog likes their space invaded….she is TOO GOOD sometimes at teaching this but has never followed through with her snarls….
I love her to bits and she loves and lives her miracle life to the full every day.
THE VERY BEST BREED IS RESCUED!
September 23, 2014 at 10:30 pm #121569LuvMyFurKidsMemberWell its heart scan time again for Velvet and this is the first one with her off all of her meds…..so fingers and paws crossed for this young lady who must be the most prayed for dog in the DID history…..to me she is the picture of happiness and health… so we hope the outward picture matches the inward one too….
Her overseas specialist isn’t back in the country till mid October so will have to be patient for the results….we’ve been through alot recently so could do with some good news….
All fingers and Paws crossed greatly appreciated ….

November 27, 2014 at 1:10 am #122521LuvMyFurKidsMemberWell Velvet didn’t have a great result on her heart scan her output has weakened….so she has been put back on one of her three meds….and they want to see her for yet another scan on the 6th of December…but this doesn’t hold back her mama’s miracle.
When she arrived and was diagnosed with her heart condition we were only hopeful that she would reach her first birthday and this week she celebrated her fourth birthday…now thats the real miracle
Fearful of her four candles
Wanting her home made sausage dog cake

November 27, 2014 at 1:41 pm #122531MutleyMemberHappy birthday Velvet! Hope your medication gets you back on track – all paws crossed. I see you wondering whether the birthday cake is a new foster fur kid…next best thing though, being a ‘sausage’ dog. Great to see your update.
March 7, 2015 at 10:34 pm #123922LuvMyFurKidsMemberThis year started off with the best news that we could have hoped for ….Velvet her mama’s miracle ….continued to amaze all the vets and staff in UCD hospital ….her condition has stabilized and they have decided she could be discharged after 3yrs and 3mths…still on meds for the rest of her life but we can live with that as every day with Velvet is a stolen one that we fill with memories….
Mum is Santa nearly her yet?
Look Mum call Santa and tell him I will join his team tonight only to speed him up.
And even though Velvet gives every foster dog a frosty reception for the first 30seconds she and her sister Tess are the best teachers in rehabilitating those that haven’t had the best of times…..Im blessed to have them.
And if it wasn’t for Dogs In Distress and their amazing work and continued support Velvet like so many other hundreds of dogs wouldn’t be here enriching our lives like nothing else can.
