I met this beautiful girl today and while she is shy and a little bewildered by being in a strange place she has a fabulous gentle nature. This girl is a small/medium size dog and is only knee high.
Her new foster brother was beside himself with joy having a new pal in the house and I have no doubt he will really bring this gentle girl out of her shell in no time. Jacky (the Jack Russell!) is a small Jack Russell so you can see below she really is no where near Pointer size!
P1040559.JPGOctober 17, 2011 at 9:53 am #106723carlylongMemberI am so happy that this little dote is in fostercare!
I had the pleasure of meeting this little woman last week. She is a lovely little thing, ClaireF is right, much smaller than you might think! has the pointer face but the legs of a small dog
Thanks so much to dogs in distress for taking her in, she would have been in the pound if not for them and her new foster home
October 19, 2011 at 6:15 pm #106770rubi27MemberAs a foster we always hope for the best and expect the worse. And we got what we were hoping for, a gentle beagle sized pointer mix. Its still early days as we have had her for only 3 nights. Initially her demeanor was very shy and timid. As she was never allowed into a house, lead trained or crate trained we are very suprised at how fast she’s learning it all and she seems very comfortable in her crate. She is also housebroken. She is very comfortable with her foster-brother Jacky being around her all the time aswell.
Shes such a gorgeous girl even her mild snoring is like ocean waves to Jacky’s ears.
More updates to follow
In the meantime here is a picture of her in her little crate.

October 25, 2011 at 5:14 pm #106862rubi27MemberPatch (that’s the name that she was called when we got her) has settled in very quickly and only now we experienced her real “ME”!
It’s been a week and 2 days since Patch arrived. Since then she has learned to sit, walk on the lead and to respond when her name is called.
This is a massive progress considering, there was less than a week of decent weather for outdoors training. She is very playful and loves a good run.
She has a very healthy appetite and is not possessive over her food. She can be very curious about her surroundings when on a walk.
She sometimes does get startled by certain noises on a busy street and fireworks, it being Halloween and all.
She would make a great companion for someone and/or another dog.
Beautiful and smart girl!- attaching some more pics of her

P1040567.JPGOctober 31, 2011 at 4:25 pm #106970rubi27MemberAs it was Halloween weekend we decided it’s time for a party.
We had children and adults around coming in and out through the day.
This gave us very good opportunity to assess Patches reaction to strangers, kids and noise around the house.
I have to say she was such a star and was the limelight of the party.
Patch was the official babysitter while the parents had something to eat or drink.
She really entertained the kids (2 years and above) as she was very playful yet gentle.
She is just fantastic with kids. The party was a great fun for everyone!!!
Happy Halloween from all of us!!!!November 2, 2011 at 1:53 pm #107020rubi27MemberYesterday Patch had her first car ride and visit to the vet to be microchiped and vaccinated. She sat in the back looking out through the rear window and smiling at the cars behind!!
She was so relaxed that you would not even know she was in the car!
At the vets she was really friendly with other dogs in the waiting room. The vet tech took her in and was out in a few minutes. They were amazed at how calm and relaxed she was throughout the procedure.
In conclusion, she loves car rides!
‘s my treat for being so good!!!!.JPGNovember 2, 2011 at 3:26 pm #107022IndiannaMemberA plea to foster families. P L E A S E don’t post any more images of little pleading faces looking up out of the computer screen. My heart strings are pulled so tight they just might twang and disappear into the wild blue yonder. What a little face. I just have to keep telling myself that all the foster dogs are in nice homes with good people and are being cared for.
November 2, 2011 at 10:02 pm #107025blueindigoMemberTotally agree Indianna! This girl is my current torment. I spend my time thinking of how well she would fit in, what names I would like to call her, imagining a total life with her, would Mr B get on with her or is he too comfy on his own. Unfortunately I don’t know what he would think! Then I think of my fussy next door neighbour and my dream turns to dust.
There is always the ‘one’ (often more) on the site to torture. And no I can’t resist checking in on her all the time! So yes, no more beautiful pictures PLEASE!!! And yes she is in a fantasic home, all be it temporary. And yes her perfect forever family are out there, and will be so lucky to get this fantastic beauty!
FiannaNovember 2, 2011 at 11:46 pm #107027LuvMyFurKidsMemberI met the petite precious Petal the other day and I was delighted to see that she is a well balance little girl who was so friendly but very gentle and respectful getting along super with her foster brother and family members she is only the height of a small cocker spaniel.
November 7, 2011 at 10:20 am #107067rubi27MemberOver the weekend we took Patch to the 2 different dog parks to see how she would respond to a pack of dogs.
As soon as we let her off the lead, all she wanted to do was run and play! The other dogs had a hard time keeping up with her.Patch was great with the other dogs in the park but was a little intimidated by a full grown Husky that was trying to jump over all dogs smaller then himself!
Patch loves being brushed. She will sit the whole day enjoying the attention.
Patch’s ideal forever home is with a loving and active family!
She is great with kids too as she was used in the classroom at the school for blind children.
She knows her forever family is out there somewhere!!!No photos this time!!!
November 16, 2011 at 2:22 pm #107186rubi27MemberAfter a very tough 2 years of her life, Patch is finally enjoying life as it should be!
Patch has been doing great and we can see a huge change in her outlook. She gets so excited when we get the leads and put our jackets on! She knows its walkies time!!!
She is becoming very popular with other dogs and dog owners in the park. She loves a good run and having other dogs chase her!
She is doing great in basic training as she is a fast learner. She knows she has to sit to get her food or treats (you don’t even have to tell her to sit when you have food).
Patch still needs a little work on her recall especially when she is excited about something new. She can be a little shy at first with new people especially men and she is great with kids!
We had 3 kids over aged between 1.5 and 3, she was just so gentle and affectionate with all of them. She loves being pet, brushed and cuddled. She will just sit there with a big smile!!
Patch’s letter to Santa was to find her a forever home!
