That photo and up-date made me smile – thank you. Pippy you look great. As for breed, well I think there is a (REALLY) teeny tiny little bit of German Shepherd within
Who cares, you are fantastic
As for hanging off tennis balls that belong to Labs, there is no answer to that except thank goodness the Labs are nice dogs
You clearly have no idea just how little you are ![]()
The very beautiful Pippy’s lovely family sent in some pictures of her from the Summer.
Everyone at Dogs in Distress really appreciate these little updates, thank you so much. She looks fantastic, and so happy ![]()

Received a lovely update from Pippy’s forever family:
She continues to be a complete little ‘energiser bunny’, and just does not seem to stop. When she does collapse she is the typical baby, totally out and then bounces back to life once she has recharged her batteries (so to speak). The walks and runs are the highlight of her day where she out paces everyone and by the end is bouncing around wanting more as the rest of us are in an exausted heap. She had her first long hill run with the big dogs today and LOVED it, she usually goes with me at a more sedate pace but I guess those days are past! In the evening it takes a while for her to settle down as she wants to be up and doing but as you can see once she settles it is usually in the warmest place, and always manages to get inbetween either dogs or people. The dogs are not allowed on the furniture but as far as she is concerned bean bags don’t count and she somehow manages to be asleep on someone without anyone noticing how she got there. She is turning into a great defender of all family members but thankfully now accepts the postman as a normal part of the day. Our biggest problem was she decided to chew collars, well to be more precise the other dogs collars, she would lie on top of them as they were asleep and basically just chew their collars off. We tried every make and type but have had to revert to taking Mac’s collar off now when they are in, it took us five collars to learn that! He will let her lie there happily chewing, – anything for a bit of peace – while our lab just tends to either play with her or if he has had enough she has to be quiet and sleep. It is still very unusual to find her in her own bed and on the rare occasions she is, she will be found buried under the sleeping bag with just her nose poking out. All in all she is a bundle of happy energy keeping eveyone on their toes!
She is pictured with Mac – our first DID, our lab and my father in laws Douggie, another DID, all waiting for the command to eat. Then, thankfully, asleep at the end of another busy day, still just a baby at heart!IMG_2255[1].JPG
And anotherIMG_2250[1].JPG
Still a little cracker I see
What a great photo of all the dogs sitting in front of their dishes of food but checking out all the other dogs’ food, apart from the Golden Lab who is being a very good dog and looking at the person who is going to say ‘go’ or maybe hit a big dinner gong

Great update! Never come across a compulsive collar chewer before…! ![]()
Great pics! Those dogs, including Pippy, look well!
‘Pippy’ has now been with us just over a year and I thought a little update was in order.
As you anticipated she has a very strong little character and would love to boss everyone about if they would only listen to her – which they don’t, human or canine. She is now hill running with the more energetic members of the family and she simply loves it. She runs rings around the big two and bounces back in front of everyone, after a few hiccups she has learnt that sheep mean come back to heel which she does, thankfully! Her dislike of wet grass does not extend to bog and wet heather and you lose sight of her in the bracken, a result of her size and her colouring. However she can not help herself from bouncing along and this little figure suddenly appears like a jack in the box before disappearing again usually in pursuit of a rabbit larger than she is.
She is very much a snuggler and will not sit on the ground if there is any other option, thankfully both the big dogs don’t mind being sat on all the time. It is very rare to find her in her own bed, usually she is cuddled up beside or on top of, one of the other two. We have been working very hard on the not jumping up for attention and she is generally pretty good, sheer exuberance makes her forget and she flings herself at you in a bundle of delight but we are slowly getting there. The only time she has been subdued was after her op and after two days was furious with us for not walking her – that was a very long week. All in all she keeps everyone on their toes and is a firm favourite amongst the smaller members of the extended family.IMG_2800.JPG
And the rest of the update. . . . . . . .
Mac, previously Jakie is also a DID and now with us four years. He is big and a total baby despite his size. He loves being with us and can usually be found asleep beside me where ever I am working, either inside or out. He and ‘Pippy’ have mad moments where they both do circuits of the house (outside) ducking and chasing each other, a real case of little and large and very funny to watch.
I hope all is well with you, your family and your extended canine family. I keep in touch with the website and when ever I have a down day the ‘Happy Endings’ always puts a smile on my face.IMG_0234.JPG
Cheeky as ever for using the ‘big dogs’ as seats
What a funny soul you are ![]()
Received a lovely update drom the bould ippy’s forever family. . . .
Just a quick update on Pippy. She continues to delight and (try to) rule the roost, a big bundle of character in a small body! Her energy never fails to amaze us, she matches the big dogs and more on walks and runs and comes back bouncing. She has managed to convince the family that bean bags are fair game and so are those in them, not really furniture in her mind so definately allowed to snuggle into. Anyone reading stretched out on the floor in front of the fire usually ends up with a little hotwater bottle in the small of their back as she feels duty bound to protect us where ever we are!Helping.JPG
And another oneIMG_0342.JPG
And finally .. . . .

Determined not to sleep on the floor!

This little girl continues to keep all her family in line. She is now two and has everyone exactly where she wants them even if she does get sat on now and then both literally and metaphorically! She adjusted to the additional of Mo to her family very quickly and has pretty much got him where she wants him. It is the winter where he will come into his own with her as he will be her very own duvet/centrally heated blanket/rug!
