Palmer is an 8 month old Lab X.
He is not a big boy, quite small but perfectly formed :D
He is neutered, wormed, microchiped and fully vaccinated.

Palmer gets on great with everyone!
He is a fantastic pup who is great fun to be around.

If you would like to apply to adopt Palmer please go to the "adopt a dog" section in the tabs at the top of this page or click here https://dogsindistress.org/adopta-dog/
There you will find all the information on the adoption procedure and the adoption application to be downloaded.

A big thank you to Cathy Davy and her friend Pauline for giving up their Bank Holiday and going up and taking photos of all the dogs to try and help.

Palmer has only been here about an hour and has settled in incredibly well so far.
He was a bit on the nervous side coming out of the pound but travelled very well in the car, just curled up as good as gold.
He is getting along very well with his foster sister Bea (the bigger dog in the photos which I will attempt to attach now) and has done a good bit of tailwagging.

Update on "Palmer’s" first night: He was excellent, no accidents he seems to be house trained, and didn’t squeal at all. I left the door open to the kitchen but he never even tried to make his way upstairs. He has discovered the joys of comfort and has taking a liking to the comfy bed below :)

Today Palmer met a neighbour’s two children 4 and 7 who are very fond of dogs and he was great with them. He is still quite reserved but had a wonderful run around the fields today where he was in his element. He is walking well on the lead too.

    Great update.
I cannot believe they are so similar except for size.
He is like a mini me.
Fantastic photos of a little man who looks very happy and content :)
The three of them sitting in a line is excellent

Little P is just home from his neutering op. All went well; he was in and out in 3 hours and trotted out to the car. He is asleep on the settee now. He will be glad to get something to eat this evening as he was fasting since yesterday evening and I could hear this tummy gurgling this morning. :(
He behaved brilliantly in the vets and wasn’t phased at all by the huge mastiff that passed and sniffed him a few times (he probably thinks he’s that size himself anyhow  ) or bothered by the cat in the carrier beside him.

Palmer is in great form this morning after his little op.
He never gobbled his food so fast as last night, he must have been starving poor chap  . He got a tiny bit of steak in his brekkie this morning as a treat and cleverly flung out all the dog nuts to get at it at the bottom of the bowl :D . He then went around and collected all the nuts.
I clipped a few of his nails this morning and he was very good, no fuss. It makes it easier that his nails are white/transparent so I could see what I was doing.
He has no "collar of shame" or lampshade after his op and so far isn’t going near the stitches too much either. He is milking the pets and cuddles though! He loves nothing more than to be squeezed up beside me.
He did miss going for a run on the beach last night with his pals as he is "taking it easy mode" now til his stitches come out.

Palmer is great on the lead and we have just started some off lead training and recall. He has some way to go but is responding well. He is very excited when he sees other people but especially other dogs and assumes everyone will be delighted to meet him :D .
He is getting plenty of admiration too.
Here he is out on the beach:

    Little Palmer is doing great.
He is greatly improving on recall and off lead.
Had his stitches out on Tuesday and not a wiggle; and not a squeak with his vaccines. :)
He is very good with cats (though he did break the cat flap thinging this was a great idea; now he knows he is a dog not a cat   ) .
He is slowly learning about toys (he was very fearful about getting into trouble, poor thing, for playing before) and the fact he is allowed to chew and play with them ;)
I just can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t love him. He even had managed to endear himself to some of my neighbours that are more cat people than dogs…he has the gift!
He went along with me to a talk on the Hill of Slane for heritage week on Sunday and not a bother to him in a crowd.
Some more photos attached while he is curled up beside me on the couch…
