November 11, 2009 at 2:55 pm #89725geordieMemberthanks roverdil, we are enjoying her so much if we did not have a cat we would adopt her ourselves she is a joy to be with and gives love to everyone a very social dog
November 11, 2009 at 4:52 pm #89732bredaMemberto anyone looking at this dog. my brother has a patterdale and he is the sweetest gentlest little dog you could meet. My brother reckons he is like the labrador of terriers. Although I am not in a position to adopt (my spoilt brat wont tolerate another dog for more than a few days – she doesnt know what she’s missing and wont listen to my sensible words) – i would advise anyone to adopt this little one and they are great with kids. My 19 mnt old loves my brothers dog and visa versa…. God luck to her in the future
November 11, 2009 at 5:13 pm #89729geordieMemberhi indianna, have not seen any climbing yet thank god but lucky for me my walls are very high covered in willow as well which brings the height up more very special little girl, hope some one notices her soon she has so much love to give
November 11, 2009 at 5:16 pm #89733geordieMemberyou are so right breda this little beauty is so gentle not a harmful bone in her body.
November 11, 2009 at 9:57 pm #89747IndiannaMemberShe really is a little cracker. I think all terriers can climb if they have a good enough reason. Cassie (Cassidy for anyone who remembers her) tried to climb up a tree after a squirrel one day, she managed to get up quite a way but the tree was too straight and the branches were out of her reach, thank goodness. I have no idea how I would have got her out of a tree. I have also seen a TV programme showing a JRT climbing quite a way up fir trees, so its not just Patterdales. I love terriers and she is a beauty. Wonder what she would be like living with other mutts?
November 11, 2009 at 10:16 pm #89754suebradyMemberI have a smooth coated Patterdale and they are a fantastic breed. Yes they are VERY agile – Molly can jump nearly any obstacle if she puts her mind to it.
They are a high energy, intelligent breed. Once they get plenty of exercise they can be quite lazy around the house (we’re pushed to get an open eyed greeting some times!). They are very loving and loyal. My little girl is fantastic with other dogs – only interested in play, play, play. She’s also great with kids.
Would def recommend the breed for any terrier lovers
November 11, 2009 at 10:42 pm #87719geordieMemberhi indianna, i had her out tonight we met a lot of dogs walking and she was fine just normal interest except when i think she fancied a hugh german shepard she ran after him and took me with her.she never barks it is amazing so quiet, no growling nothing a complete angel i only ever knew one other dog like that and that was my female jack russell who passed away 5 yrs ago. she is in bed now she threw herself into it after our walk. i adore her i will need boxes of tissues when she is adopted. my husband is totally stun by her he loves her colour the way she walks her stance when she see’s something of interest the way she loves him cuddles him kisses him. he is in love as well. my son is begging me to adopt her but i cant
November 12, 2009 at 11:50 am #89762IndiannaMemberOh, I can feel myself being drawn towards an adoption form even as I type this. What was I going to be looking for at some point in the future, a small, female, terrier. I really can’t believe Abi has pitched up.

November 13, 2009 at 10:34 am #89842IndiannaMemberJust noticed the post explaining Nellie’s/Abi’s interest in the family cat – great shame but not a surprise. Poor cat must be feeling a bit nervous and the dog must be feeling very interested and a tad frustrated! She is OK with other dogs isn’t she?
November 13, 2009 at 11:20 am #89845geordieMemberhi indianna, just the cat she was after our cat is 13 yrs old and very small like a kitten. any time i walked her she had no problem with dogs and loved everyone she met on the way. perfect with me my husband and our children who 9,4,2 i cried last night when i had to bring her to new foster home. but the poor baby needs to go out in the garden and our cat lives out there as well. our last foster got on well with the cat. patterdales are known for not liking cats i just thought we could work around it. sorry did not mean to frighten you. she is a little gem a rare find in this big bad world. maybe you could visit her with your terrier and see how they get on all the best from shirley poor little nellie/abi we miss you
