InactiveMoses arrived with us only yesterday but it feels like he has lived with us for much longer. He is an absolutely lovable, affectionate little guy who is eager to please and thrives on attention. He loves going for walks and would happily play fetch the ball from dawn to dusk. In fact, it’s an obsession with him and you have to be very skillful at hiding the ball without him seeing when you feel you have had enough. We gave him a much-needed bath shortly after he arrived and he just stood there while we washed him and he allowed us to dry him with the hairdryer afterwards. He is very curious and will allow nothing to escape his attention. He had a few mishaps in the toilet department on his first day as he sought to mark his territory everywhere, but only had one today as we brought him to the garden regularly and praised him when he did his business outside. He loves being inside or outside as long as there is a human within sight that he can keep his eye on. This affectionate little guy would be most suited to a person or family who is willing to give and receive lots of love and attention. We will post photos shortly.

Memberoh my, he’s lovely! he’s got that hilarious, mischievous little westie face. my wee fella is the same age as moses, and they look very much alike. if we could afford another dog right now, i would have him in a heartbeat! you can’t beat a westie for personality, cheekiness and snuggles. such a great breed. can’t wait to see his progress. i’d be surprised if he’s in foster for very long. these little guys are hugely popular for a reason!

InactiveMoses is getting along fine. He is really affectionate and loves cuddles. We are still working on the toilet training and we are really looking forward to his much needed grooming session on saturday.

MemberMet Moses yesterday and he is an absolutely lovely little fellow
. He is easy going with people, but can be a bit bossy with other dogs. Who ever decides to adopt him will have a mate for life

MemberGAH! look at him! he’s absolutely lovely!
I’m not surprised he can be a bit of a bossy boots with other dogs. Westies are all terrier. it’s a good thing to remember if you’re thinking about adopting Moses. despite their puppy-ish, cuddly good looks, they’re not lap dogs. Westies, more so than most breeds, require firm (but fair!) guidance. if they don’t have a clear leader, they can be bossy, snippy and bold. they are notoriously stubborn, and will often resort to naughtiness to get their own way. being a good owner to a Westie means being consistent with training and, most importantly, discipline. they’re not generally well suited to homes with small children, as they can be prone to "act first, think later" behaviour. but they are so funny, sweet and affectionate, they will more than repay you for the work you put into their training and socialization.
it’s a good idea to thoroughly research the breed (or any breed!) before considering adopting a Westie. they make absolutely amazing companions in the right home, and will give you the best of themselves if you are prepared to do your best for them!
