Jasper is a fabulous 2 year old tricoloured collie. He is brilliant with people and children, loves other dogs and is not bothered by cats. He is also good with livestock. He is housetrained and knows all basic commands, but would benefit from a little lead work. He would be an active dog and loves nothing more than a good walk and run around everday. He will need a secure garden, as he has had tendencies to wander in the past as his owners were in work full time. He will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and wormed before going to his new home.

June 22, 2009 at 7:58 am #85906martinacMemberhi all,
I picked Jasper up from his owner yesterday and drove him back to dublin to the lucky Stef and Judy. What a fab fab boy..he is just the most adorable guy. He runs to greet anybody and just loves to be petted. A gentle soul and so pretty. He is still very much a puppy I think and is so playful. He travelled very well in the car on the long trip back considering he had already put in an hour and a half journey from achill before hitting the 2 hour trip back to dublin with me. He just sat in the back seat looking out the window popping his head to the front now and then to say hello and give me a lick!. I adore this little guy..he does not seem to have any training but will be a joy to train. He seemed to get on very well with Stef dog Judy when we met in dublin so I hope this continued through the night. What great company..am missing him terribly!! Would love to hear how he is getting on ..any family would be lucky to have this guy..he has a lot of energy so would need an active home..
best of luck Jasper..you are a real sweetie..
/mJune 22, 2009 at 9:24 am #85908stefandjudyMemberJasper came to stay with me yesterday and he really is a darling. He has no training, but picks up on things very quickly. When he came into the house first, he was quite nervous, but relaxed once he had had a good look (sniff) around. He is small for a collie and stunning looking! He will do anything for a cuddle and will be very easy to train. He does not jump up on countertops or furniture and does not chew things, just explores every corner with his nose.
This morning I brought him and Judy out for a run and had him off the lead, which worked out great. He did not pay attention to the toy at the start, but after I had thrown it a couple of times he started running after it together with Judy and then even fetched it. Ten minutes later he was at it like an aul’ one, beating Judy to the ball, grabbing it and bringing it straight back. I couldn’t believe it! He is so quick and so eager to please! He is not nearly as hyper as I thought he would be; very easy on the lead and just lovely to have around
June 22, 2009 at 11:00 am #85911martinacMemberah..am so glad to hear that Stef!! you will have lots of joy with him for sure!! wish I had a garden so that I could foster him..(. He is lucky to have you and judy for company!.
Keep the updates coming..have a soft spot for this guy!

July 3, 2009 at 7:12 am #86236stefandjudyMemberJasper was neutered last week and even though he got very stressed at the vets, he has been the perfect pet since he got back home. He is such a sweetheart, his new family are very lucky to get him!
He always walks with me off the lead now; he loves the car and is the first to jump in when we are going out or heading back home; he goes and secures himself the best ‘seat’ where he can look out the front window and lick my cheek every now and then
Jasper is such a sweetheart; it’ll be very hard to let him go! He loves his cuddles and is a lot less nervous than he used to be. On top of that he is a beauty; I took some lovely pictures of him but haven’t been able to find my camera.. I’ll put them up asap.
July 3, 2009 at 7:19 am #86237martinacMemberAh…so good to hear about him and cant wait to see the pics. Thank you so much for looking after him..he is a real gem for sure!
best of luck jasper in your new home..will never forget you and the day we spent together..lol!! xx
July 7, 2009 at 4:42 pm #86342hazellerMemberHey guys,
Jasper seems to have settled in well here, we all love him to bits he is a great dog with a super personality, he just wants cuddles all the time and is full of licks for everybody! Yesterday morning I took him to a park a few miles from our house and he loved it, infact he loved it so much that when we came home we had visitors and after another hour of playing with them, when they went we left him for 10 mins max and thank god we were still in the house and noticed him missing in the garden, he scaled the back wall (its 6ft 6) and went missing for 3 of the most stressfull hours I have ever experienced. Eventually after 3 hours, and about 9 people out searching mum found him in the park he was in that morning. He was a bit subdued and probably knackered that evening. We’re putting more fencing around the walls as we dont want a repeat of that and until then he doesnt go out the back unless someone is with him and spends his day as my shadow! He comes everywhere with me and he loves it. Hopefully when he gets used to it here and when his neutering kicks in in a month or so he wont want to try and escape. As I type this he has his two paws on the laptop and is watching the cursor move with cocked ears! Will put some pics up of him in his new bed which he loves as soon as I can!
July 8, 2009 at 7:40 am #85942martinacMemberhe is a frisky guy and very energetic so am not surprised that he scaled the wall! he is probably all out of sorts so would keep an eye on him. So good to hear how fond you all are of him. When started to read your message, I thought he had gone missing..TG you found him! Poor jasper doesnt know where he is and is probably trying to find his way back to Stef and Judy or even achill!.
love to see some pics…/Martina
July 10, 2009 at 12:11 pm #86442stefandjudyMemberI can not believe he did that! My wall is less than 5ft in some places and he never escaped! I wonder is it because of the other dogs.. I’m so glad you found him and sorry you had so much stress over his escape – but isn’t he so clever to go back to the park I have to say I’m kinda proud!
I’m glad he is settling in well otherwise, he is just the best little companion isn’t he?! I can’t wait for pics either!!
July 11, 2009 at 2:34 pm #86197stefandjudyMemberJasper when he was still with me
August 5, 2009 at 9:52 am #86988stefandjudyMemberUnfortunately Jasper’s new home did not work out as he kept on escaping over a very high wall. It seems he gets very stressed without other dogs; I had him back for a night and he made no attempt to get away, just stayed with Judy.
He is now in foster care in Swords with two other dogs who he gets on great with so he will need a forever home with other dogs to enable him to settle and feel safe.
Jasper is a very loving and affectionate dog who loves giving kisses and cuddling with people on the couch. He is perfectly fine as long as he has other dogs around him and is ball-mad. He will fetch forever if you let him! ( I still think he learned that from Judy! )
He has put on weight in the last few weeks and his coat is lovely and soft and shiny; he always was a gorgeous dog and looks even more stunning now!
His previous family are very sad to let him go because he really is the perfect pet.
If you would like to meet Jasper, please send in an adoption form. He is vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and housetrained.
August 6, 2009 at 9:44 pm #87119martinacareyMemberJasper is in foster with myself, Jimmy, Kas and Ruby and settled in straight away with the two dogs! Him and Ruby are tiring each other out playing most of the day and night. He’s really good on the lead and hasn’t made any attempts to escape thank god so maybe it is the company of other dogs that makes him feels comfortable. As I’m typing he’s sitting on Jimmys lap having a cuddle and enjoying having his chest rubbed. He’s a great fella and loves his cuddles and kisses. I’ll take some pic’s of him and post them up soon.
