Hey Guys, Just wondered what do doggies need to be there to be entered into the competitions?! Annabelle asked me to enter her in female rescue dog…
…
We were at the dogs aid day yesterday and she had a ball, so lets hope the weather holds off for sun!
Let us pray for a dry, if not a fine day next Sunday.
As far as I know you just need to register on the day for your category of completition! All registrations will be taken on the day and there will be a small donation to enter. Best of luck!! Cannot wait to meet the amazing anabelle in the flesh!
‘Oscar’ is wondering what competitions there’ll be on Sunday – he is flat out practising for a ‘Waggy Tail’ competition?
There is indeed a waggy tail comp!!
The times are below for the different catagories!!
Pup Idol (Pups under 12 months) – 12.30pm
Golden Oldie (Dogs 7+) – 1pm
Best Dressed Doggie – 1.30pm
Best Trick – 2pm
Waggiest Tail – 2.30pm
Rescue Dog of 2009 – 3pm
Rescue Pup of 2009 – 3.30pm
Please note all times are approx as we well know doggies dont always follow even the best laid plans!! If you are hoping to enter please do come early to register!!
Hi all,
Just want an opinion on whether to bring Sam to the funday? He is still a little anxious around other dogs. He wouldn’t do anything, like fight or be aggressive – he will just bark and sniff. He’s got little dog syndrome.
He thinks he can shape up to the biggest doggie. I’d love to bring him but don’t want him to get upset. What would you do? Thanks.
I’m wondering the same thing about Brandon (we adopted him in May). He’s adoptive brother would love to go and schmooze the doggies and people alike, he’s a friendly chap. Brandon just won’t allow it I’m afraid as I suspect he’s not from a background of being socialised. I’ll try and have a 2nd set of arms for the day
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one to find the prospect of your furry pal meeting a lot of other doggies all of an afternoon
. I’ll bring treats (distractions) and keep the interactions brief and positive. Fingers crossed!
sounds like it will be a great day will go along myself would love to met sum of the doggies from DID
Everyone who will be in attendance will be dogmad people and like in our own lives not everyone will get along thats just life …….don’t worry there will be plenty of understanding people there to help out should anything kick off….its a brilliant opportunity to do socialisation on a major scale…..plus if any dogs need down time we are in a huge field that you can take them off for a walk in…..Owners brave the day it will do your dogs the world of good!
100% agree!! Its great to bring them!
You wont be long spotting me coming over the hill sled style with my three dragging and woofing delighted with themselves!! Its the one event a year I know that no matter what messing they get up to everyone there will just look and say awwwww!! If you have a crate for your dog you can bring it in the car and if they need any downtime you can take it out and pop them in that way they will be safe and secure in their crate and will give your handies a break!
Im sure alot of the dogs who will attend are of unsocialised backgrounds etc ![]()
But if you know your dog well enough and know when they want to get away from the dogs/people/noise/situation etc then its good to bring them i think.
I took annabelle to the dogsaid show last week and it was the first time she had experienced that set up. She was very nervous and tail tucked for first 5 mins, i stood out of the way at back and kept feeding her treats( high value ones) and anyone who approached i just asked to give her a bit of space and as most were doggie people they understood. After a few brief meetings with doggies and people she relaxed and had fun.. but if after a while if she was not adapting i was ready to leave and not force her… however by end of day we were sat by the ring watching the competions beside the very noisey kid who kept sqeekin a dog toy in her face
and havin a ball.
So i think it can be great for some dogs but for others it could be 2 much so bring crates, fav toys, amazing treats or what ever they find comfort in and let them take it at their own pace even if it means your at the side lines all day…

Thanks, you guys have made up my mind for me. I’m going to bring Sam for a day of fun (hopefully). ![]()
Well JoAnne, you’ll be able to spot me easily, I’ll be the lady plodding along with a black and white fluffy dog in the "down time field", squeeking a toy mouse and feeding myself and the dog with Tesco’s cooked ham ![]()
