Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good dog training/obedience school? I really want to do some obedience training with Sam, 2 and half year old JRTx. I did look at the Dublin Dog training site and they don’t have a class starting until 25th August. It’s also a little far out. I’m in Lucan but if a good class were to arise, I’d travel to it.
    Any info appreciated, thanks.

Dog Training Ireland, off the Blanchardstown exit of the M50. What you need to look out for is that anyone you trust to train your dog uses positive reinforcement methods only. I’ve had my DID dog with them from April to July on and off for formal training and have found them great.
    "Do no harm"
My older dog had nothing like that in his younger days so he unfortunately had some harsh training with a local vet’s trainer (choke chain) and lemon spray in the face through a trainer we had come to the house (and she’s still verty much on the scene as I see adverts in the local vets). I saw for myself the negative impact it had on him and promised myself I’d not make the same mistake on the new fella.

    Good luck with your choice.

There are so many bad classes out there and people throwing advice about willy-nilly!!! …. So when choosing look for any class that only promotes POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT! Any class that uses positive punishment steer clear from and dont be fooled by the term positive in this case as it more then likely involve nasty equipment!
My Annabelle(DID Rescue) goes to daycare and classes in DogTrainingIreland. She loves it there and is happy and so am I! ;)

We want to sign in for training classes too. I’ve sent an email to DTI in regards to their next Level 1 training as all courses currently are running. I’ll let you know if I’ll get any reply back.

I brought two to Dog Training Dublin last weekend…They had a dog socialisation class there so I brought them to that to start with to see which class would suit them and one needs to be socialised but it turns out its the same guy that I went to training classes with my German Shepard years ago so he is good but can let you’s know how I get on with the classes next week.

I can recommend the training classes with the DSPCA. They run courses that are an hour a week for six weeks and I found the trainer Alex to be great.

Plus I like that the profits are going to an animal welfare organisation. They are based in the Dublin mountains near Rathfarnham, so it might not be suitable for everyone.

If you email dublin dog training you can go on a waiting list. I got called within a week as someone moved to a different day. Ive 2 more weeks in this obedience class and I cant praise it enough! Buster is a different dog! The change Ive noticed in all the dogs in the class over the last 3 weeks is amazing! Would defo recommend them!
