Hi all !!!
I am over the moon excited that our teddy Rottweiler Arnie (used to be called Gus before adoption) is going for an audition to appear on Cesar Millan Live show in O2 on Paddy’s Day. There’s eleven dogs auditioning in total so its a great chance he will be used as one of the dogs to demonstrate Cesar’s techniques.
For all of you who don’t know about Arnie- he was found wondering the streets, skinny, dirty, hungry with a terrible scar on his back leg- he was a tripod, literally. He did have a micro chip but it was unregistered- so that was no use. Good people in DID did all they could to get any kind of info of where did he come from- contacting nearly every vet hospital in Dublin to see if any of them treated a rottweiler for a massive leg injury (probably car accident) but that was unsuccessful. Then a radio show, posters etc… nothing seemed to work. My partner was following the post about him for months in hope that someone would reclaim him or adopt him- but that was not happening.
Then one February afternoon after checking and seeing that Arnie is going to be put down in few hours- he dashed to Ashtown pound and brought the poor mutt home. I was not too impressed to start- we already had 2 rottweilers at the time so 3 seemed like a crowd. But in my heart i knew that was the right decision.
I’m not gonna rant too much about Arnie’s severe food aggression, complete distrust in people, especially men- you risked being bitten just by looking at him, oh and all the fights with other male rottie we had at the time- i wasn’t sure i still had my fingers on after trying to separate them! And also not forgetting the advice by Pete the Vet to put him down on the spot as we went for vaccinations…But the time went by… we discovered Cesar Millan (thank God!!!) Things had to change in the household. For the better!
In 2008 Arnie was awarded the DID Rescue of the Year
He also became great friends with another DID rottie that we fostered- Sophie.
And know- he’s my best pal now!! He gives up his marrow bones for me just by me looking at him! His rehab efforts payed off so much- treadmill and accupuncture with Gary at Lisenhal vet- and he’s off with the wind running thru fields! So there- some way for one dog that someone just disposed off in the street… He’s off to meet the man himself- Cesar Millan and hopefully appear on stage. Keep an eye out for him if you’re in O2 on Paddy’s Day! Arnie’s there for all of DID dogs that need a second chance, and for all DID STAFF that need a massive THANK YOU for all the hard work they do!!!!

March 19, 2010 at 7:19 pm #95467buzzsmomMemberwell was the dog chosen ,did he get to meet Cesar ??? Tell all
March 20, 2010 at 10:54 am #95491ievajMemberNo, he didn’t
As Arnie has a big scar on his leg i’m afraid that was the reason- they are only using 100% healthy dogs on stage as not to cause any injuries or worsen existing ones or get people claiming that Cesar caused the injury some how etc… legal nonsense. But the show was very inspirational, they also had adorable rottie pup on stage that melted my heart so that kind of made up for Arnie not being there

We were thinking of Arnie though when we were there, it’s great ievaj that you got Arnie to this point (and I don’t just mean the auditions), wasn’t any easy task to help him through his issues.
