Is Cleo not reserved anymore? Or was that a mistake? Any word on a forever home? How’s Cleo getting on?
August 8, 2009 at 8:38 am #87187dogluversMemberCleo is wondeful getting on great and in good form. She is still looking for her forever home. That is a very special one. Cleo needs a home where there is someone at home most of the time or maybe has a job where she could go to work with them. I really think she would do well in a home with another dog to just for company as if you were to go out shopping or something and couldnt bring her she would still at least have a companion.. She is the best dog in the world and would be anybodys best friend. She loves kids and gets on great with other dogs she is so laid back..
I look her to the awareness day last saturday with me and she litrally just pan’d out in the middle of the shop floor everyone just laughted at her and walked around her kids stopped to rub her people stopped to ask was she ok.. She just never move didnt care she was the main attraction just was sleeping……. Cleo has brilliant recall and just chills around the house lovers her days down the beach and walks up the field and by the lakes she doesnt bother with other dogs we meet and just keeps on ploding.. She also needs to be on a very stricted diet as at the moment we have her on a weight control food but she hasnt lost weight and needs to lost at least 5 kgs so its all down to me long walks and plenty of exercise.. Maybe its time for a tread mill … Think we will join the jymAugust 10, 2009 at 8:53 pm #87249Cath23354MemberHi,
I have read your reviews on Cleo with amusement . . she seems such a lovely pet. I am currently looking for a family pet and have 3 children (12, 10 & 4yrs). We live in Co. Fermanagh on approx 1.2acres in the countryside. Our property is not fully enclosed but when we find the perfect pet for our family, we will install a radio fence. I would be a little neverous due to her health. Are the pills expensive . . I have no problem in spending money on our dog but would need to know how much we would need to budget.
Kindest regards,
Cath

Hi Cath can you fill in a adoption form in "forms and downloads" on the main page and email it back to dogs@dogsindistress.org please and then one of the admin can contact you in relation to the lovely Cleo but to your question no there not that expensive at all.
August 23, 2009 at 11:57 pm #87643dogluversMemberSome pic’s of the lovely cleo who i just cant understand how this beautiful girl is still with me.. She is the best dog anyone could ever want apart from the few little must’s that i mentioned in my last post’s that would be good for her she is so undermanding and would fit into any home once there was someone there most of the day and had another dog for company…
I just cant say any more about her than whats already been said.. If you think you can offer her the perfect home that she so deserves please fill in an adoption form for her so you can come meet her and see for your self..August 24, 2009 at 9:05 am #87648NarsilMemberHi. I was just wondering how old Cleo is? Thanks

Cleo is about 3 or 4 years old
September 1, 2009 at 10:49 am #87962dogluversMemberWell my darling Cleo is still here……….. Dont understand it cos anyone that meets her just fall’s in love with her.. She’s a bit of a dope and can fall over her feet or balls or poor Cody but thats down to her meds and only when there starting to wear off.. She is a great mammy to Cody and when she is chilling in the garden on the step he climbs up on her back and chills with her.. She never bats and eye lid with him..
Cleo is brilliant with kids and loves babies that constantly have some sort of food with them to share with her.. (she loves her grub)
She would really make someone very happy as she is so loyal and a wonderful companion..September 12, 2009 at 9:33 pm #88266dogluversMemberI am just stunned to find this beautifull girl still with us. To all you big dog lovers out there she is just the perfect pet so loving and loyal…
Cleo is such a precious girl and really has been extreamly over looked
(i think due to her condition which doesnt change her and who she is in the slightest)…For anyone who has wondered oe thought about adopting her but has second guessed it due to her epilepsy… Its make no difference to her once she has her meds twice a day.. She would suit better in a home where there was either some one at home most of the time or had one of those brilliant jobs where you could bring her to work with you… Even if you had to work for a few hours a day and had a second dog to keep her company im sure she would adjust quickly but would need a companion… She still hasn’t had a fit while she has been here.. which leads me to believe she is as good as stable on her meds..
Cleo is on 5 KBR’s and 1/2 a 90mg phenobarbatone tablet in the morning and then 1 90mg pheno in the evening..
It works out about € 130 for a 3 months percription of her KBR’s and Pheno’s.. which breaks down to about €11 a week… There also hoping eventually that she will be able to come off the pheno’s which will bring it down to about €85 for the KBR’s which she will always be on… (roughly)
Cleo also needs to have blood done ever 6 months to make sure her levels are ok and she is on the correct dosage which works out at about €115 for the 2 tests, for the KBR’s test and pheno test every 6 months but again when ever she can come off the Pheno’s it will bring the tests for the KBR’s down to about €60.. (roughly) So its not that expensive to give this girlie a loving home and a HAPPY LIFE but the tablets are a MUST every day twice aday as they have stopped her from having fits in the 6 months she has been here..Here are some pic’s off the beauty…
Panned out with the lovely Blossom..
Group photo say cheese!!!
Sleepy……
September 12, 2009 at 10:21 pm #88278cmftcMemberI’m shocked she’s still in fostercare, I think she’s beautiful! She fits in with kids and dogs, what more could you want
September 13, 2009 at 11:28 am #88286ladlesMemberIts unbelievable, Cleo should have gone to her forever home at this stage. Its lucky that you are willing and able to have offered her a loving foster home for this lenght of time. I know you are mad about her and she seems to fit right in there with you all. She is a great family dog, gets on with your young children and all the other lovely dogs that are with you at the moment. I suppose the fact that she is on daily meds must be putting people off. You have explained her requirements in detail and it seems that it is very easy to manage. The fact that she has not experienced a fit of any kind in 6 months, is testament. I am sure there is someone out there who can give Cleo that loving forever home that she deserves. She looks and sounds like a loving dog and a beautiful dog. Hope it all works out soon. Thanks for everything you have are doing for her.
September 14, 2009 at 8:27 am #88314ptahaneyMemberI’m hoping that people who may be in a position to adopt Cleo will seriously consider her. I think giving the breakdown of the cost will alleviate anyone’s concern of the cost of the medication.
I do hope she gets a forever home soon…she deserves it (not that her foster family aren’t doing a fabulous job)!!!!
September 21, 2009 at 3:20 pm #88474jake n baileyMemberI eventually got to meet Cleo & she is lovely. She is so relaxed & loved getting petted by any passing kids.Dogluvers have her in great condition.I hope it wont be long before she is in Happy Endings with a new Family to call her own.Gorgeous girl.
October 2, 2009 at 10:06 pm #88800dogluversMemberThe beautiful Cleo is now slowly coming off her Pheno tablets we have been reducing them by half fortnightly and she only gets half in the moring now and doesnt get one in the evening. She is settling into the idea of it and seems a little more lively and not as dopey so to speak with out them… But fingers crossed she hasnt had a fit being taking off them slowly but i have to say i have been keeping a very close eye on her…
She is sitting here panned out on the sofas with my gsd and not a peep outta here. Probably afraid if she move is could cause demoted to the kitchen….
She had a great day on sunday at the fun day and was even doing the agility with Fidelma.. So maybe she has a future giving the lovely Ellie a run for her money Well after she is settled off the meds i would be afraid to push her to far.. But she was jumping it unlike my mad springer that either ran under it or through it..I just cant believe this laid back lady muck is still here with us and hasnt been snapped up… no one has a clue of what there missing out on with the wonderful girl… Everyones loss.
