This tiny man needs a very special commited forever home…he is very unsure of everyone and everything…God knows whats has happened in his past. His reaction when he is afraid, it to snap :(

He would be best suited to a family with older children (teenagers)

He deserves a second chance where he can learn that humans are not all bad and that world can be a good kind place.

He is in foster with Yvonne who will update soon ;)

Well Oscar (as Charlie is now known) has arrived. He introduced himself by piddling on his blanket in the car :o – he was either nervous or telling me what he thought of me!! Anyway we are home now and the big sniff has begun – checking out all the rooms.
As he can be snappy when lifted, I have let him come to me and in the last while he has jumped on me for rubs. As I type, he is on the desk checking that he gets a good report!! ;) I am getting loads of licks now, so I’ll let him set the pace….more news when he settles in a bit.

Just a little update on Oscar’s first day. I introduced him to my Jack Russell last night but he wasn’t impressed and was growling at her. However, today I let them both out the garden together and they got on better.

He was living with a JRT previously, but I think with Oscar, a second dog would have to be very placid.
Oscar wasn’t coming when I called him, so I’ve put a long lead on him and now if he doesn’t come I pick up the lead and walk him to where I want him. This way I’m not invading his space and lifting him, but he still doesn’t get his own way.
He has followed me all around today and up to a minute ago :o there was no snapping. I have just taken some cardboard away from him as he was eating it – he went to snap at me, but I used the lead to take him away so I could lift the cardboard safely. ;)
He is very demanding – if you are not giving him attention he will growl and bark in your face. I just ignore him when he does this and after a while he stops and jumps on your knee as sweet as pie!
He loves his teddies but growls a lot during play – again I refuse to play with him when he growls.
I really think he just needs to know that he is NOT the boss!! He is also very affectionate – gives loads of licks and slept on my lap all night.
As you can see he adores standing on the desk – he’s here again beside me and cries until I put him on the desk!!

Well Oscar is here nearly 3 days now. He is adorable and just wants to feel safe and secure. He has bonded so quickly and is responding really well on a one-to-one basis. Having him wear a long lead is working great. We had a moment yesterday when he wanted to tear at the bin bag and when I went to take it away he started growling at me. I picked up the lead and he calmly walked to his bed! When I let go, he went back to the bin, but I sternly called his name and said NO! and he walked away. :D I think he just needs a few ground rules. ;)
He is extremely nervous of strangers. I had 2 separate visitors yesterday and he stuck to me like glue. He didn’t growl but he wasn’t going anywhere near them.
He’s not doing well with my Jack Russell. They rub along for a while but if my dog comes near me, Oscar gets really jealous and snaps at Goldie. I think Oscar would like a simple quiet life. I have had him out walking and he was very good on the lead. Not nervous at all of sounds.
He loves playing with his toys. Today there was much less growling during play. He really is a dote – he’s just a little scared of new things……and that’s ok with me. :)

Oscar is trusting me more and more each day (and he’s only been here 5 days!). I spend a lot of time with him and man-handle him a lot so he gets used to being touched. He has never snapped at me. We have quite rough playtime where I tickle and tease him with his teddies. His mouth is open as he tries to grab teddy, and even when he grabs my hand by mistake, he never bites or nips. He has learned really quickly that being touched by me can be a good thing. I have no problem picking him up, as he now knows it is always for cuddles. When I want to train him, I always use the lead, I never go to lift him. He just needs to know that touching is good. :D
Oscar is great fun – a real puppy when it comes to playtime and we currently play a lot to encourage interaction. I try a few times a day to let him meet Goldie (my JRT), but Oscar is still slightly aggressive with her. I feel Oscar has blossomed since meeting him on Sunday. I wouldn’t hesitate to keep him and work with him, if I didn’t already have 2 dogs.
My sister was here earlier and he barked his head off at her, but then came over to her and she rubbed him and he let her lift him for cuddles.
    :D Progress!!
I forgot to mention that Oscar is completely house-trained. He had an accident or 2 the first day, but he was nervous and didn’t know his way about the house.
A little thank you to my dog walker, Ollie’s Pet Care, for giving Oscar a tug-a-duck toy, which as the photos show, he loves.

Oscar was invited to my sister’s for a St Patrick’s Day visit. Some photos of him below interacting with the family. There were no children or other dogs so Oscar was a very happy relaxed little dog. On leaving, they said he was ‘as good as gold’. :D Good man Oscar!!!!! We found out something funny though…..Oscar has a fascination for cats!

Little Oscar has really been a very good boy. He is a cheeky chappy which is part of his charm.

He came to me with a reputation for being snappy, but I have had no issues with him. In the first few days I was very cautious handling him even though he gave me no reason to be. Now (less than 2 weeks later) I can pick him up anytime and touch him without any reaction. He has even let me take a bit of plastic toy out of his mouth and there was no snapping. I have had no reason to be cross with him, so when I approach him, he knows it’s ok.

I have to say he makes me smile and laugh throughout the day. I love the wee man and am sad that I can’t give him his forever home, because he so deserves a place where he is No. 1.

Oscar has moved a few times in his short life as he was snapping. I really feel if he found a home where he is the only pet and where there are no young children to scare him (loud noises and quick movements makes him jumpy and then he is likely to snap as he’s scared) that he would make a wonderful little buddy for someone. He is very loving and trusting and just a bundle of fun. :D

Little Oscar was invited to my sisters’ for the afternoon as he was so good last week. I packed his little bag of toys and off he went…..he’s just back after loads of running around the bedrooms jumping on the girls, and then a one hour walk with Peter (who obviously thought he was minding a greyhound…I mean a 1 hour walk!! ). Oscar is flaked out on the floor now. :D Here are some photos of Oscar on his day trip….PS he got a glowing report – no problems at all. :D :D

Some more photos of Oscar. He has mainly been with females in my house so it was good to see Oscar being at ease with a male. They bonded very well and were best of buddies after their walk.

Oscar also met the cat and wasn’t bothered by it although the cat was a bit put out!! :o

Oscar played with his toys and interacted really well with all the family. There was no snapping or growling – so I’m very proud of the wee man. Good boy Oscar – your behavior over the past 2 weeks has been excellent. I think when Oscar is chilled and not distracted by children or pets, he responds very well. :D :D :D
