She had a wonderful couple of weeks with you two and knew she was loved. My heart goes out to you..it must be just terrible!! heartbreaking given all the time you shared with her. Oh no. I had hoped against hope that when I logged on today it would be good news. Poor, poor girl.

Martina and Jimmy, you did everything and more for her, and at least she learnt that there are some decent human beings in the world, her last few weeks were full of happiness and love, and didn’t she thrive on it. Unfortunately her poor body had obviously been through too much with her previous ‘beloved owners’.

I am so sorry for your loss, I know how much these Akitas mean to you both.

Thanks for all your kind words, we went in to see her a few hours ago and say our goodbyes. She was still in the kennel where she died and hopefully she just drifted off in her sleep. The vets aren’t exactly sure what happened so they asked our permission to do an autopsy and see if they can find the answer. We’ll let you all know if they come back with a reason why this happened. We’ve asked for her ashes and if we get them before Christmas we’ll take her to California with us and sprinkle them somewhere nice. Here’s a little montage of Keiko and her time with us.
