May 20, 2011 at 3:40 pm #105126RuthGMemberHi, just wanted to post a little update about Karl (the doggie formerly known as Carl)… we have had him for over a year now and what a year it has been!
We were brand new dog owners, so it was a STEEP learning curve! But thankfully we have stuck with it, and with lots of time and training Karl has grown into a great pet. He is very affectionate and great company, very loyal and very smart. He loves to lie on the couch at night time and be cuddled. He goes to bed early and sleeps late and is a great guard dog. He is extremely athletic, can run like a greyhound for miles and miles. He loves a good run around, but sleeps like a baby afterwards. He’s very handsome, with a lovely shiny coat, and people often stop me in the park to say what a gorgeous dog he is.
He is still very playful and mischievious and gets into lots of trouble, eating things he shouldn’t and jumping up on strangers. He can open doors (but can’t close them again, unfortunately) and still loves to rob socks. Lots of things in the house still have to be kept up high, though he can jump five feet up on walls too! He loves other dogs and loves children, likes nothing more than to play chasing, chase bubbles or run after a ball. He has calmed down a lot though, over the past year, and become much more obedient with training.
Maybe in another five years we’ll be able for a second dog, until then Karl is our number one

May 21, 2011 at 11:51 pm #94746DID RescueKeymasterWow he looks fantastic, well done as first time owners
Delighted to hear you did not fall off the wagon for the first 12 months.
The worst part is really over now as long as you have put in the training.
Should you have any problems you can post it for the moment in Paws for a chat and Emmaline who is a qualified dog behaviourist will answer your querie.
Thanks again for the update. -
