She knows I’m dog mad so was telling me that her sister May homed a rescue dog yesterday. Low and behold from DID. Once she mentioned nervous springer, I knew it was Boomer. They have always had springers and when she saw him on the net he was the man for her. They are mad about him. She refuses to think of his previous life only the life he has ahead of him. They live really close to Sandycove and Dun Laoghaire pier so he’ll have loads of nice walks. He is very quiet and nervous for his first night, has stopped in his basket and won’t budge. They are taking it slowly and hoping to coax him round today with some treats. I can’t wait to hear of his progress.

I am so happy to hear this good news – it was very hard leaving him at the vet, knowing I wouldnt be the person collecting him. Little Boomer (who I never called Boomer as it was too harsh sounding, and always called Bobby!) is such a darling dog. When he was with my family he was anxious at first but fell into the rhythm of the household quickly and hopefully it wont take him long to fit into his new family. He seems to be very resilient and we wish him all the best for a new happy life.April 5, 2010 at 12:19 pm #96240maryanddesMemberHi Everybody, Boomer (now Bruce) has been with us now for 2 weeks and what a sweetie he is! He really has come out of his shell loads and has a definite cheeky streak which we love. He’s still a little nervous around traffic but is coming along in leaps and bounds and loves his walks on Killiney Hill. He also loves travelling in the car which is great. I’m sure he’ll put on a bit of weight in due course because he’s a real foodie. He is so affectionate and loves his cuddles.
We’ll keep you up-to-date with his progress.

He is very affectionate and really loyal, always wanting to please. His confidence is growing and he’s very friendly with people. He has put on some weight but I don’t think he’ll ever be much heavier as he’s very active, and spends his time chasing the ball and anything else that moves! He’s off the lead all the time now except crossing the road. I’ve taught him a few tricks which he learned really quickly and loves the praise he gets for doing well.
Bye for now.

September 19, 2010 at 10:24 am #101323maryanddesMemberBruce (aka Boomer) is now 6 months with us and is completely different from the frightened little guy we took home. His confidence has greatly improved and he has a terrific personality. We thought you would like to see his photo.
