Its a New Year and here is our newest addition to the DID Family….be prepared for cuteness overload…
Benson is of a very energetic breed….He will need tonnes of excercising and needs to be kept busy he loves to chase the mop the hoover and of course anything or one that moves
His breed will only do well with other canine company!

People need to research the requirements of any breed before ever considering aquiring a puppy or adult.
While they will look very cute and cuddly etc etc,,, as they grow up they have needs that have to be met and in order for everyone to exist in harmony and be able to enjoy each other instead of it turning into an endurance test it is important that it is the right dog for you.Please Please be careful, thoughtful and mindful before getting a pup or dog.
It is a very long commitment.Even at this early stage of Benson’s life he has tonnes of energy and will work his way around all the pack till no one wants or has the energy to play any more
He loved all the fuss on Christmas morning! Opening presents, shredding wrapping paper, locating the treat packages (clever lad found the lambs ears straight away) and eventually playing with the toys
But it all got too much for him and he had a couple of snoozes too!

He loves to play with the other dogs and has no fear in trying to steal toys and get a playful chase in return
He loves company but only likes to cuddle when he is worn out and is ready for a snooze

For such a young pup his stamina is amazing he doesn’t need the pup back pack on walks anymore and keeps with the pack the whole time
But he still needs to be touching someone to sleep!
1535481_10151836189587135_1378739961_n.jpg2013-12 It’s Christmas 064.JPG2014-01 New Year 004.JPGWell Benson was out doing a home visit tonight for one of his fellow foster fur friends…..and to my personal terrified horror the lovely family had three cats …..It was Benson’s first time to see a cat and there wasn’t a bother on him ….the dog friendly cat was rubbing up against him and they sniffed each other and Benson just wanted the cat to play they followed each other around for a bit it was so weird to watch (in a good way)
So for the first time ever I can say that one of my foster fur kids is cat friendly…..Go Benson another box ticked on your fabulous forever friend profile.

Benson is just thriving …..for such a young pup his off lead and recall is fantastic….he only has the odd mishap with his toilet training when I don’t hear his one welp a the door and he loves his grub….
2014-01 Sunny South East Day Trip 030.JPGJust when Benson had found a fantastic home ….Some upsetting news…..yesterday our little Benson fractured his hind knee cap badly while we were out for our daily walk…such a freak accident…..poor pup was traumatised it was very upsetting for us both…..but Allison in Dundrum and Colin in Terenure vets were fantastic
He is in what’s called a Jones cast which is a new one on me they have reset the leg but its an unstable fracture so he can’t be on it hence they have not prescribed any pain relief which is the norm in these cases….if he used the leg he will move the setting. But as he is very uncomfortable he won’t use the leg …he is lifted in and out to do his business and bless him he has little shaky sessions when he is in pain….
Will keep you posted on his progress …
It might be a wet and miserable day out there but two things have brightened it up so much that we are only short of getting the sunscreen out….
First a visit to our lovely vet Allison who was so impressed that Benson hadn’t touched his leg cast at all and this was great as it gives the fracture a better chance to heal….and the best bit was that Benson was sent home with some pain relief for later on tonight (so fingers and paws crossed that we all get some sleep tonight)
Then we came home to a lovely message from Benson’s forever family who are waiting patiently for his recovery and have everything ready for his arrival from matching lead and collar, ID tag, bed, toys and a crate incase he needs a rest from his new foster sister Minty when he comes to live with them.
Benson is the only one who is thrilled that its pouring down as none of us are going to into it and he has us all to himself today
Benson is comfortable lying upside down as there is nothing resting against the fracture….but even when he naps he whimpers ….so Big Foster Brother Rossi came over from the water bowl and thought Benson might like a drink from his huge wet jowels….but when this didn’t stir him Rossi decided to give him a bed bath….I just wasn’t quicken enough with the camera
But it must have been enough though as it gave him some energy as Benson started to do a little run in his sleep ….. bless him!

It was so unfortunate for your accident to happen just as you were about to go to your forever home. It’s great to know they are waiting patiently for you and when the time comes, it will be all the sweeter. I have a feeling you have a great life ahead of you.
