Due to a change in circumstance for his owner Alfie must be moved to a new home very soon.
Update to follow re his age and more details.
For the moment we know that he is friendly, playful, good with other dogs and likes to travel in the car. His owner says he probably won’t be suited to a home with cats.
April 15, 2010 at 10:06 pm #96855justineemoeMemberI haven’t met alfie – but i believe he is a dote of a dog. His current owner only wants to move him on as she feels sorry for him as he is spending so much time alone – due to a change in her circumstances.
Please consider giving little Alfie a home.

May 19, 2010 at 9:13 am #98251TobysMumMemberMeet the lovely Alfie who, together with Scruffy are my very first foster fur babies! We’ve been together for just over a week now and are all getting on really well. From the moment they met each other they have been playing non-stop. Then when they see I’m being left out, they come and give me the most stupendous licks and cuddles. I love them both to bits. Here are some pics of the two:
Out for our early morning walk by the sea:
Dog tired after that walk:
Alfie is very affectionate and loving and loves when its time for walkies – he goes straight over to where the leads are kept and if he could put it on himself, he would! Here are some pics of the lovely Alfie:
Hmmm, I like this chewy stick:
I wonder what this is?:
Profile shot – make sure to get my best side!:
May 19, 2010 at 9:59 am #98250IndiannaMemberCongratulations on starting to foster, its a wonderful thing to do. I have huge respect for people like you, I am so feeble I know I couldn’t do it! How lovely to see Alfie with a tail, splendid little dog as is his friend Scruffy. I look forward to hearing about them, knowing they are safe and well under the care of DID and yourself. Thank you for the photos and I hope there will be more.
May 19, 2010 at 10:12 am #98253buzzsmomMemberThey are both lovely and so happy looking and they walk well off lead it seems?
May 19, 2010 at 10:29 am #98254TobysMumMemberThanks so much Indianna. I had problems uploading the photos, hence the delay. But now I’ve figured it out, I’ll post up more when reporting on their progress.
May 19, 2010 at 11:23 am #98262TobysMumMemberNo, I’m afraid they are still on the leads (sorry, you can’t really see them in the pic). It would be lovely to have them off lead but we’re not at that stage yet!
May 21, 2010 at 9:30 am #88790TobysMumMemberWell, the day I was dreading has come. Alfie met with a lovely family during the week – they couldn’t resist him and have decided to make him part of their family. He is going with them this evening. I knew this day would come but am just not prepared – I’m really going to miss this lovely little man. He has oodles of character and is a really gentle and loyal little dog. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that his new family are lovely and I am sure that they will take very good care of him and lavish him with lots of love and attention. So, be happy my little Alfie, I’ll miss you. xxx
Alfie at Seapoint.JPGMay 21, 2010 at 2:25 pm #92222IndiannaMemberWell, you have set your first foster dog off to a new life. Well done. I am sure Alfie will stay in touch with you and I hope you will stay in touch with people like me. There will be many more very needy dogs coming your way and you can take heart from the fact you are caring for them until their permanent families present themselves. Well done, you are a good soul, just like the other foster families. Best wishes.
May 21, 2010 at 2:35 pm #98303RoverdilMemberAwh poor you…but great for Alfie that he has a new family all of his own. At least you know he is going to be well looked after and will have a happy new life and hopefully they can keep you updated on his new progress.
Take care..hope you and scruffy don’t feel too bad…
May 21, 2010 at 3:17 pm #98301TobysMumMemberThank you both so much Indianna and Lisa, you’re very good. Yes, it will be a sad night tonight for Scruffy and me and I promise to keep you all updated as soon as I hear anything about my lovely Alfie.
May 24, 2010 at 9:35 am #89588TobysMumMemberWell, we said goodbye to Alfie on Friday evening. I must admit, a few tears were shed, but I am so happy for Alfie because he will have a wonderful life with his new lovely family – he has certainly landed on his paws this time.
On Saturday morning I got the following text update from his new Mum:
‘Alfie had a good night, cried for about 10-15 mins at bed time. Just going to park with picnic for the day.’
And another update on Sunday morning:
‘Alfie went to bed at 11 last night, never cried, slept till 8.30 this morning. Think weather and kids wore him out. He is settling in well.’
Isn’t that great! I’m really thrilled for him.
Unfortunately poor Scruffy is missing his best pal very much though.
May 31, 2010 at 4:20 pm #88991TobysMumMemberI got the following lovely update from Alfie’s forever family:
"I hope your felling okay now as i know how upsetting it was for you leaving Alfie but rest assured that he is being well looked after i promise you that. We all love the little fella and ive gotta tell you that i adore him! He gets plenty of exercise between his morning, daytime and evening walks plus the boys play with him in the back yard. I must say i really enjoy taking him out as there is plenty of green belt around me and best of all he knows the places where i let him off the lead and he can run free but he wont let me out of his sight and he comes to me when i call him, he looks so happy when he plays fetch i get a real kick out of him. He’s getting better with his barking as he meets more dogs and he only barks at the very odd person and he’s as good as gold at home he really is. I brought him to the vet on Thursday to get his vaccination and his nails clipped and i gave him a bath that morning so he’s a lovely boy now!!!. I got his bed which he likes and his house which he hasnt really taken to but thats okay its only for shelter if hes out back but hes indoors mostly as he loves company and loves to play and i cant refuse his cute face when he jumps up on me with one of his squeak toys. Ive never seen a dog that loves to go for a walk as much as Alfie, he gets so excited when i as him if he wants to go "walkies" he fetches his lead and drags me out the door!. Ive never walked as much since we adopted him but it will keep me fit and i love minding him. He’s asleep in his bed as write this. Feel free to post his pics ive attached on the D.I.D. website as he is a very welcome addition to our family and it really is a happy ending."
