Meet Alfie! He is a 1 year old Bichon Friese. He didn’t have the best start in life but is now looking forward to being pampered and adored for the rest of his life! He loves other dogs, and is a very friendly, happy fella. He will be neutered, have his 1st vaccination at least, and will be wormed and microchipped before being rehomed.
May 12, 2009 at 4:10 pm #84864RoverdilMemberDid this little guy not find a home, I thought he had one sorted?
I had wanted to take him but while I passed the homecheck my circumstances were not right for what he needs. Sad to see he is still waiting for his forever home, I hope he gets one very soon.May 12, 2009 at 8:02 pm #84870pookaMemberHi, is this lovely fella good with children and other dogs? How big is he? Have had a homecheck and would be interested in finding out more? Thanks.
May 12, 2009 at 9:08 pm #84874pudsMemberThis little man is with me, he is a great little fella, full of fun, cheeky and quite a character, loves his toys, teddys, chew toys, kongs. He doesnt dig in the garden, is non destructive in the house, is house trained when you keep your eye on him!!! He is good on the lead but pulls when he knows he is going home after a walk, good recall still working on that but we have had him off lead onthe beach, if he see’s other dogs he runs up to them but only to say hello. Loves to lie up beside you for cuddles inthe evening, a great companion, he is quite active and very intelligent would be a great candidate for agility or fly ball as he is very fast. He is good with cats, living with a golden retriever and we’ve had no problems, also living with a 2 and a half yr old (child) however while he is great with her i wouldnt home him with younger children for his own sake and he can nibble, while my child doesnt mind this others might. He can be a bit nervous of cars when out walking but we only have small paths here on country roads so the cars get very close i imagine he would be grand anywhere else, we had the same prob with our last foster. He is good with other dogs but not males his own size and age.
will try post up pics but cant figure it out nowMay 13, 2009 at 9:00 pm #84514pudsMemberHope this works, i tried to reply to your pm pooka but not sure it went through?
May 14, 2009 at 5:29 pm #84923pookaMemberHi, no I didn’t get the PM. Gremlins in the machine??
May 14, 2009 at 7:35 pm #84925pudsMemberlots of gremlins in the machine always, im away for the night, Alfie with me on his hols, if you want to ring me to know more about him thats fine, just check with one of the rehoming girls first as i think you need to put in an application for the dog you are interested in. As to your questions, he is about halfway to knee height, he barks when there is something to bark at and is quite vocal when playing !!!! If your dog is timid or submissive its a no go for our Alfie Like i said he is living with a large golden retriever bitch and they are good pals
May 14, 2009 at 8:21 pm #84930pookaMemberThanks I will ring you. I have already put on a home check form that it was Alfie we were interested in. I will contact admin to see if I can get your phone number. Enjoy the hols!
May 15, 2009 at 7:38 am #84937Joan KirwanMemberHi Pooka, I have a 9 yr old Bichon and she is a gem . they are a great dog for a family, we also have a Boxer so yes they like bigger dogs. They love to cuddle and when my daughter was younger she could dress her in dolls cloths and wheel her in her dolls pram . So there up for anything. There are 8 children under 4 yrs in our cul de sac – they call her the "sheep" and she has never be aggressive to any of them. The need people attention, they seem to trive on it. I hope you get him as he will bring you loads of joy. OH the only thing is they need to be groomed at least every 10 – 12 weeks so you will need to find a good groomer. Joan

May 23, 2009 at 3:50 pm #85204RoverdilMemberI met this little guy yesterday and he totally stole my heart. He is a dote. Very cute and playful with a cheeky little personality. Would have run away with him given half the chance. Anyone who gets to take Alfie home will be very lucky and guaranteed lots of fun, licks and entertainment. Best of luck to him and I hope he gets a really good forever home very soon. Look forward to hearing how he gets on!!!
