I heard over the weekend that another Great Dane was in the Pound and myself and Dave popped up on Sunday to walk the dogs and see if it really was one. Not only is it another black Dane with a white flash on its chest it is actually Kenny’s sister. The chips are sequential (though not registered) and we can’t believe it. Her weight is much better but she has bad dandruff. She is stunning, so beautiful and elegant. She is quite stressed as Danes are such gentle sweet hearts and like their home comforts. She badly, badly needs to get into foster and get a chance to relax and give some of that legendary Dane love. Unfortunately we simply do not have the space to foster her as well as Kenny with our Dobie Danu but would gladly transport her. She will need space and good food and a nice big bed in a kitchen etc. as Danes really feel the cold. Danes probably have the best temperment of the doggie world, they are soft easy going babies and settle well with other dogs. Please give her a chance, she is so alone and miserable.
November 28, 2008 at 4:19 pm #81357dogluversMemberwell well well look who found them selves in my house!!!!!!!
She is a little sweetheart ever so good with the kiddies and not a bother to her with the other doggies she is such a lovely natured girl and has found herself a comfy sofa in the kitchen….. here is some pic’s of the beautiful princessNovember 28, 2008 at 10:06 pm #81363dogluversMemberWell the lovely Cinders has settled in very well so far and has adapted to all the doggies had great fun at play time with them all sharing toys.. She is a real puppy doesn’t really know how to play but soon got the hang of it.. I brought her for a walk this evening on her own and she was a brilliant girl on the lead very curious to any sounds and all the new smells will update with more photo’s soon of the beautiful girlieXXX
November 29, 2008 at 9:59 am #81367BrendacMemberGod bless you Catherine and Tom for taking her into foster care!!!
They are such gentle giants, fragile despite their size and I am so glad she wasn’t in the pound last night it was so cold. Big brother wood be so pleased, its incredible to think two such beautiful babies were simply abandoned like so many other dogs bred by irresponsible owners when they can’t sell them- I shudder to think what Christmas time will be like. Its a good time to point out that although so many people must have been put off fostering these babies due to their size I’m sure you guys would agree the gentle giants who get on with every other dog they meet andare so laid back arefar easier to manage than fiesty little dudes with attitude. Please please guys out there willing to foster bear that in mind when big dogs need helpxNovember 29, 2008 at 9:38 pm #81376dogluversMemberWell Brenda Gentle GIANT just isn’t the word for her she is just a sweetheart so placed.. i had her out on the field today playing fetch with the other dogs she wasn’t to sure about actually fetching the ball and bringing it back but its was great fun chasing the other dogs she is so big she just looks like everything is in slow motion and its all paws with her weather she try’s to play with the other dogs or say hello to you she just paws and nearly flatten’s them even my GSD isn’t quite sure what to make of her.. Its terrible to think people can just bred dog’s and not have a clue in what there doing its just so irresponsible i cant under stand buying a pure bred when you get soooo much more from a rescue that gives you everything back just for the chance you have giving them.. I would love to meet Kenny as he looks so different to Cinders size wise in the pictures… Well Brenda we have always loved the "BIG BEARs" as my 3 yr old Roisin calls them but when i was pregnant on the baby i just took puppies it was easier walking wise and stuff so i think im back in action for the big bears there so relaxed apart from Cinders taking every from the counter just to see what it is ( she doesn’t even jump up on them).. Big dogs deserve just as much of a chance just the same as the little one they all need a home!!!!!!!!!!!
Here some better pic’s of the lovely bear
Cinders decided no matter where her bed was she would get into it.
Cinders giving hugs and im 5ft 3" and she’s not full streched
November 29, 2008 at 10:55 pm #81377NiamhMemberFair play to you Doglovers for taking her in. She really is so gorgeous and deserves just as much a chance of a great home than anyone else. Good luck looking after her and I hope you all have great fun together.
December 12, 2008 at 1:34 pm #81723dogluversMemberMy (LITTLE) Baby is soooo good she just chill’s loves everyone and ever dog she meets.. She is excellent with the kids never pushes into them or knock’s them over as for adults if you don’t rub she she will rub herself off you (alway make sure you have 2 feet FIRMLY on the ground) She is a sweetheart her only problem is she is addicted to tub’s of butter.. and she drinks loads of water but i think thats because she spill’s half of it outta her mouth when she walks away from the bowl so doesn’y notice she has empty’d half of it all over the floor (im trying to teach her how to wipe her mouth in a towel but she thinks my trouser’s are a better idea (more soakage)
As she is so big she need’s loads of exercise or she get’s a bit stiff.. and loves a big cuddley bed to lie on or you’ll do!!!!! She follow’s me around the house and just stop’s and watches what ever im doing..
I brought her for a big walk last night and then pop’d into my friends house and she has a dane x lab and a boxer and they all got on like they knew eachother.. She is very well behaved on the lead and walks with you! She need’s to be in the house all the time though as Danes dont like the cold , no matter where i put her bed in the kitchen she will bring it over to beside the radiator and cuddle up on it..
So if you think you can give this girlie load of attention nice big walkies and have a big garden for her to run around she’s the dog for you.. She loves rope toy’s and ball’s to play with (or puppies) and a few nice bowls of food a day..December 26, 2008 at 5:41 pm #82014dogluversMemberThe baby of the house…..
She lies like this all the time up against things i dont5h know how she can be comfy….

Which she has been waiting so long for!!! P.S. WE WANT UPDATE’S AND PIC’S PLEASEJanuary 8, 2009 at 11:20 am #82298AnonymousMemberWell Cinders was with me last night and accidentally ended up sleeping on my bed! She was a bit nervous or so she appeared to be….but I think it was a cunning plan as at 3am I landed on the floor! ha ha she had sprawled across the whole bed on her back and was snoring her head off. She was as good as gold and such a sweet heart! Although she did look at me like I was crazy when I got up at 4.45am and insisted she come too. She is now on her travels to Cork to a lovely new family who have been eagerly anticipating her arrival. I wish her the best of luck and know that she will be very happy and finally get the new life she deserves !
January 8, 2009 at 11:28 am #82299dogluversMemberoh Suzi thanks a million yeah i should have told you she sprawls all over the place there’s no sharing a bed with her i tried it one night tom was away and had my gsd cinders and Daizy in the bed and ended up sleeping with the girls so from then on she slept down stairs……. Poor Cinders was only on the second turn of her sleep and you brought her off out in the cold im sure she thinks your stone mad but will realise it was all worth while when she settles in her new home.. Thanks again….
