GAH! look at him! he’s absolutely lovely!

I’m not surprised he can be a bit of a bossy boots with other dogs. Westies are all terrier. it’s a good thing to remember if you’re thinking about adopting Moses. despite their puppy-ish, cuddly good looks, they’re not lap dogs. Westies, more so than most breeds, require firm (but fair!) guidance. if they don’t have a clear leader, they can be bossy, snippy and bold. they are notoriously stubborn, and will often resort to naughtiness to get their own way. being a good owner to a Westie means being consistent with training and, most importantly, discipline. they’re not generally well suited to homes with small children, as they can be prone to "act first, think later" behaviour. but they are so funny, sweet and affectionate, they will more than repay you for the work you put into their training and socialization.

it’s a good idea to thoroughly research the breed (or any breed!) before considering adopting a Westie. they make absolutely amazing companions in the right home, and will give you the best of themselves if you are prepared to do your best for them!
