So Dexter is still with me and I am delighted he is :D Still is a dote but he does have a few issues so any tips here would be appreciated…
He cries in the car… can’t figure this one as he should be used to going in the car at this stage especially as he is so young .. he’s not quite as loud as when I first collected him but still cries all the same so he must be quite stressed about it all!!
When on the lead in the park he barks a lot at my dog Pal… very much in his face, he actually annoys Pal so much that he snaps at Dex to put him in his place… and believe me it takes a lot to annoy Pal.. any of you that remember him would know this…
He has also done the same to Erics’s boyfriend’s dog Max (aka Calvin also from DID ) when she has taken them on walks together..
Both are male dogs and it seems to be when he’s on the lead!
He doesn’t seem to have any interest in meeting new dogs which I find very strange… Missy & Pal want to sniff and play with any new dogs they meet and they are not puppies… Even Decota who has only gone on 3 walks with me so far wants to meet everyone…. I just have never met a puppy that does not want to PLAY … He does play with my dogs at home though ??? Just I know how important socialising is for them and would not like him to miss out any more than he may have already..
He is Very strong for a little pup and pulls on the lead.. thought initally it was excitement and possibly not had been lead trained at all..However 3 weeks on there’s not much improvement so think puppy training class would be invalable to him.. (i have done these with mine but it’s just hard to put into practice with Dex while I’ve 3 others with me..)
So it’s not all bad.. he is very good off the lead and comes straight back to me when he is called.. while off the lead he doesn’t bother with other dogs so although I think he’s missing out by not being social he is not aggresive towards them either which I guess is good…
So as I writing he has come up to me to say hello.. He still is my little pet even with his problems… Problems that will be overcome I might add :!: :!: :!:
