ruds.jpgMarch 26, 2014 at 8:59 pm #119641martemMemberHi all, Rudi came to us yesterday. I have photos but have been so busy with work that I haven’t had time to upload them yet. Rudi is very sweet at heart but very young (approx 7/8 months) and excitable. He has had no training that we can see but in the last 24 hours has mastered the sit command so there is hope! He enjoys his walks but is very unsure about actually getting into the car. He pulls a little on the lead but I think that is mainly because our own dog is running free (she would be disgusted if we tried putting her on a lead), today we were in a nice safe area so I chanced letting him off the lead and he was great, came back every time I called him and kept looking at me to make sure I was close (always a good sign). He is good with our dog but just wants to play all the time when at home, which is tough on our slightly more mature dog. He is good with the cats in a fascinated by their every move way! He has a great love of slippers and socks, if left lying around, but as he is still a puppy no doubt he will grow out of that. I will do another update, with photos, tomorrow, I hope… If I have time.
April 2, 2014 at 7:57 pm #120069martemMemberRudi has been with us for about a week and he is getting on great. He is a really lovely boy, he loves being part of a family. He loves coming over for a pet or a cuddle. We have discovered that his favourite is to get a good scratch on his neck (right under his collar) – he turns his head, leans into the scratch and eventually ends up toppling onto the floor. He is a gorgeous boy with the prettiest face. He is gentle but obviously has a puppy’s energy (starts looking for something to chew when he is bored – we have found him chewing on the odd sock so we have stocked up on some good quality chew toys). When we first got him he did not like getting into the car but now jumps in straight away – always looking forward to his walks. He is really good out walking and always comes back when called. He was a little nervous of other dogs and and people in the beginning, he would give a nervous little bark as they approached, but even that has improved over the week. He is house trained and only had two small accident’s in the first couple of days but we imagine that was mainly nerves at being in a new home. He is a gorgeous puppy and is going to be a wonderful dog and he really deserves a family who will love him and care for him.

He is a little tired and really hates the protective ‘lamp shade’ (that’s what my son says it looks like!) around his head but other than that he seems good. He can’t understand why no one is willing to run around the garden playing chase with him. He may have to wait another few days for that. He is doing great generally, loves cuddles and attention, loves to be played with, loves our children, loves walks. He just loves everything basically!
April 17, 2014 at 3:39 pm #120219martemMemberAs I type Rudi lies at my feet having a rest. He is doing fine after his operation last week and is due to get his stitches out tomorrow. He has settled in very well into our home and I think he would settle anywhere as he is quiet easy going and not nervous or jittery. He is completely relaxed now when we are out walking and only very occasionally gives a few little woofs when he sees a dog or person coming but he doesn’t mean anything by it. It made us laugh the other day when he went to greet two newly trimmed, so rather scrawny looking, Bichon Frise’s and came running back to us with his tail between his legs with them chasing after him. You would think he was being chased by two Alsatian’s the way he ran to us for protection. He loves being with our dog and I think he would do well in a house with at least one other dog. He is still fascinated by our cats and does like to get as close to them as possible (nose to nose if they are willing) but will come away from them when called. I will upload some more photos later.

DSC_0064.jpgMay 8, 2014 at 1:37 pm #120364martemMemberWe brought Rudi and our dog to the Family ‘n Dog fun day in Festina Leinte on Monday. We did the agility course with both of them and no doubt looked like complete fools trying to coax and coerce two baffled dogs over hurdles and through hoops and tunnels Rudi was great with the crowds of people and the many dogs there. He was totally relaxed and took it all in his stride. He’s still loving his walks and his neck scratches and we are working on the chewing issue (lots of chew toys and keeping temptation out of his way – the linen basket has been moved out of reach!!). He absolutely loves meeting other dogs on our walks and having a good chase if they are willing. More photos to follow.

IMG_1350.jpgJuly 27, 2014 at 1:55 pm #120914kaydoyleMemberRudi is the most gorgeous dog. Still a mad pup at times but so funny and tries so hard to do what he’s asked. I haven’t stopped smiling since we got him:)
He’s a bit of a chancer though and if he thinks he can get away with it he’ll snaffle whatever he can reach off the kitchen counter, be it freshly baked scones or bananas! I’ll send you on a few pics. Thanks so much for bringing him into my life x

July 29, 2014 at 10:25 pm #120969martemMemberI am so happy to see the lovely photos of Rudi and to see that he is so happy and settled. Is he still raiding the linen basket for things to chew when he gets bored. I hope not! Many a pair of socks were lost that way. The photos are just gorgeous, was that him swimming in the sea?? What a clever boy – what a good way to stay cool in this hot weather. I hope you are all well and enjoying many wonderful walks and the great summer we are having. Give Rudi a hug from us.
