Well done Richard for fostering Hobo and getting him out of the pound – I fell in love the minute I saw his little self in the pound photo. He looks so confident in the car sitting on his blue cushion, now that he has someone to make him feel safe and secure.
I’ll be following your story…but I’d be very surprised if you’re not snapped up very quickly.
July 24, 2013 at 5:57 pm #116440RichardMemberUp at 7 am for a walk up to the beach. At the beach, he was accosted by a curly Jack Russell, who lay down and exposed his underside to Hobo. They sniffed each other and the Jack’s owner called him back. Hobo got a kick out of exploring the dunes. He’s not quite a ball chaser, but he had a good go. On his walks, he tends to stop for a breather, and he looks up at me for encouragement. Quick head-pat or a tickle and then he’s up again.
He played a little ball at the beach, but the beach I took him to is a good walk away, and he was more interested in exploring the dunes off the lead. No one around at 8 am other than our Jack Russell friend, so he had free reign of the place.
Later, after lunch, we went to Ringsend Park over to the southside. His mind was blown with ANOTHER BEACH!
Yesterday, he leapt out of the bath, but he got back into it without too much effort. He’s beside me here now, and he likes being beside me (unless he’s too hot, in which case he likes being just outside the door).
He can look a little forlorn and low, but he perks up and his little tail wags when he’s shown the slightest bit of attention.

July 25, 2013 at 12:58 pm #116587RichardMemberWe were both wrecked this morning – he had a full day yesterday. Last night was the first time he didn’t watch me avidly as I ate, and it was a midnight snack, but he was like a log. He woke up before me but then he went back to sleep. I asked him if he wanted to go out and he didn’t show any interest in that until I started doing the washing up. Then I had to leave the dishes steeping because he was yapping at me to get out of the apartment. In fairness, I had already shown him his lead, so I think he thought it was a done deal.
Out for a walk in the park – I think I take him out for too long, and he’s a bit whacked now again after a 90 minute walk. Absolutely full of life to begin with, chasing his ball in the park. But he refused to mount flights of steps and he had to be carried over a flyover bridge, and he was very slow towards the end of the walk. Just fed now, and washed, and he hasn’t insisted on going out again – he’s resting up watching the box.

Whatsgoingon.jpgJuly 25, 2013 at 10:25 pm #116601DID RescueKeymasterJeepers Richard no wonder he is tired !! are you in training for the marathon
I feel tired just reading the agenda
Those short little legs don’t know what has happened
The little Jacker rolling on his back was just to say he was no threat in dog speak, this lets the other dog know immediately that they are friendly by putting themselves in a vunerable submissive position.July 28, 2013 at 9:49 am #116650yoddyMemberRichard you and Hobo are a right double act!! Your adventures make me laugh all the time. Did Hobo enjoy his Indian meal??? I can understand with all that walking Hobo likes ( ), you don’t have time to cook.
Regarding the food issue – I’m no expert but I feed my adult dogs twice a day. I tend to put down the food bowls for about 15mins and if my dogs don’t eat, then I lift them. They don’t go back down until the next meal. It is good to get a routine for meal-time I think. Also, in the warm weather, the food just attracts flies if left out.
Looking forward to the next adventure from you two….
July 28, 2013 at 11:37 am #116651RichardMemberThanks for the food tip. I’ve actually been putting it back in the fridge and putting it out again when we get home, but I will in fact do it in the morning and the evening as you suggest.

July 31, 2013 at 9:31 am #116689x0xAmyx0xMemberHey Hobo has settled in well in his new foster home with me and my dog Indie He has been enjoying the back garden and loves cuddling on the couch or on the bed with me watching. I can’t get over how good he is!
Hasn’t made a peep all night as I wanted to get him used to sleeping in the kitchen on his own but he was fine went straight to bed and went down at 8am to let him out. Indie and him have been playing chasing in the garden but poor Hobo can’t catch up with her she’s too fast for him!
Me and him will be going on our first walk today around the area not too far away as I want him to settle in.

I came home last night to find him on my bed waiting for me with loads of hugs and kisses even though two other people and a dog were downstairs . Me Hobo and Indie went on a nice walk around the estate and park today they had a great time and now he’s asleep on my lap watching me post about him

And he didn’t really answer to Hobo with me either!
I miss the little guy, all the little things he did!
He has a lovely way of wiping his paws in the dirt or the sand after he’s been sniffing around an area, and then springing out of the dirt onto the grass, like he’s saying "I’m finished exploring this patch! Where’s the next one?"
Agreed that he’s very affectionate too.
Anyone I’ve talked to about him, and shown the pics has gone "Awwww."
