Harry is the most lovely little fella. He loves other dogs and people. He is such a positive little boy and a total cutie. People can’t help smiling when they meet him – he is a Shih Tzu Yorkie X and it’s such a great combination.
He’s still very young – he’s only just reached adulthood so still has plenty of endearing puppyish ways. His training is coming on in leaps and bounds, he sits and lies on command.
He is great with children (over 10 unless family previously owned a dog) – I think he would be particularly happy with another little canine companion too – although I don’t think it is essential that he goes to a home with other dogs. He loves his walk – he currently gets three a day – but if you offered him twice that number he’d be only too delighted to go out with you.
He is very good on the lead and great in the car. He went from Dublin to Roscommon and back last weekend and was no bother at all in the car – he was content and quiet all the way.

January 23, 2013 at 8:32 pm #113133vinnieMemberHe is gorgeous. how does he get on with cats?
January 23, 2013 at 10:55 pm #113134justineemoeMemberHi Vinnie – I haven’t had a chance to properly cat test Harry but was trying to gauge it as I’m due to get a foster cat from Cat’s Aid. Initially I was concerned as when Harry was out for a walk twice he pulled at the lead when he saw a cat running away in the distance – as if to chase after them. However since then he has been out walking and twice unexpectedly came face to face with cats who were standing behind a gate. The cats didn’t leg it – they just brazenly stood there behind the safety of the gate – and Harry spent a little while sniffing gently and wagging his tail, there wasn’t a growl or a snarl or a whine out of him and immediately after he was in no way aggitated – he just pottered off – so I’m quite positive about how he’ll be with cats. I’ll update definitively as soon as I can properly cat test him.
January 24, 2013 at 12:43 pm #113143ShimmieMemberHi , just wondering if this little fella is still awaiting adoption? We have 2 children aged 6 and 7 so he sounds like he would fit in just great!

January 28, 2013 at 10:30 pm #113620Monica02MemberWe met Harry, and I think it was love at first sight. We can’t wait for him to come home with us, he will fit in so well with our family. I think Harry and Scrappy will be best of friends in a short time. We applied to adopt a different dog and were asked to meet Harry, the minute we saw him we knew he was the one for us.
January 29, 2013 at 9:12 am #113741PatCMemberThat is fantastic news Monica. I am thrilled that you and Sorcha went for Harry. He is going to have a wonderful time with your lovely family.
Pat
p.s You can’t go wrong with a dog called Harry!!
January 29, 2013 at 6:44 pm #113759Monica02MemberThanks so much Pat. I think both of our faces were aching from smiling so much since we got the news! We are soooooo excited and hit the shops today for his new bed, collar, seat belt and of course, some new toys.
January 29, 2013 at 8:31 pm #113761PatCMemberThat’s great Monica, I look forward to seeing Harry’s updates in "happy endings".
February 3, 2013 at 9:17 pm #113888Monica02MemberHarry came home with us yesterday. I am so surprised at how quickly he has settled in. He spent the day yesterday getting lots of cuddles and showed us that it is my daughter Sorcha who is his favourite as he does not leave her side. He slept all through the night and had to be woken at 9.00 this morning. Scrappy is a little confused as to why this dog is in our house but I don’t think it will be long before they are best of friends. When out for a walk a big bouncing puppy decided to go towards Harry, Scappy ran to his side and they soon discovered that there is strength in numbers!
He is now snuggled up to Sorcha, fast asleep, snoring loudly …… so content. We love him so much already and couldn’t imagine being without our baby boy!
Thank you all so much.
p.s. will post some photos very soon.February 4, 2013 at 4:38 pm #113914Monica02MemberHarry slept really well again last night. He’s already using the paper or going to the back door to go out to use the toilet. Scrappy and Harry set together for the first time a few moments ago which is so much sooner than I expected. Once again he is snuggled up to Sorcha as she does her homework.
017.jpgFebruary 6, 2013 at 7:55 am #113965PatCMemberThat is fantastic news Monica!! Harry certainly settled into family life very quickly. I bet scrappy is a happy doggie too,he doesn’t have to be sole protector of the house now!!
Lovely photo too!!
February 14, 2013 at 6:23 pm #113415Monica02MemberHarry doing really well. At the moment, he and scrappy are running through the house playing "tug of war" with their toys. I have left Harry to sleep on the armchair each night as that is one of his favourite places to sleep and have brought Scrappy to his bed upstairs until they get used to each other, since the weekend Scrappy has decided that he wants to sleep downstairs with Harry! He is totally house trained now, no accidents. We are so amazed that he has been home with us less than two weeks, it seems like we have had him for so much longer. I have put up photo of one of his other favourite places to sleep.
