Axel is a 4 month old Spaniel puppy.
He is wormed, microchiped and fully vaccinated. He will need to be neutered at 6 months. He is a great boy, full of usual puppy energy and personality.
He is doing really well with house training and walking on the lead.If you would like to apply to adopt Axel please go to the "adopt a dog" section in the tabs at the top of this page or click here https://dogsindistress.org/adopta-dog/
There you will find all the information on the adoption procedure and the adoption application to be downloaded.

He is the most biddable, cuddly puppy I have met since our last little spaniel Millie. He is around 4 months old so his teeth are coming through and so is his swagger. He is pushing his luck with our two dogs all the time. He gets told and then get more feisty. We have had him out with lots of people and children and he was great. I think this fella would do well as the leader in his house. He responds to quiet firm commands and then loads of cuddles. Cuddles and food are the main trainer aids for him. He will do well with loads of running and company. We started crate training him yesterday and he only cried for 2 minutes or so when we went to bed and slept until I got up at 6.45am. I know there is spaniel in him, he has the eyes and the owner attention that spaniels have. I think there is either pointer or dalmation in him as the cross. Some type of hound anyway. He bounces like a dalmation when playing. So folks, this boy is great, needs house training, he is getting it a bit with our dogs, but when I brought him to work with me he pee’d and poo’d the minute we got in. He is going to be medium sized when fully grown and a big soft cuddle monster who would be as happy to get under the covers with you. He is going to make some family a very loyal friend.

Our own dogs are starting to feel less threathened by his bouncyness. He has some go in him I must say. Not a wall flower by any means. He is full of fun, has his little freak outs every hour with his teeth and then collapses in a heap for a snooze.
If he goes to a household with another dog, get ready to play 24/7, he will try to be the leader no matter how much he gets put in his place by other dogs. As I said strong willed to the last.He is great in the crate, cries for less than a minute and then lights out. He has started going out in the garden by himself to wee and is learning fast. Only 2 accidents in the house since Saturday.
He is great with food, no aggression, can put my hand in his bowl while he is eating. Wolfs up the food, so I’ve started using a feeding ball for half his dinner to slow him down and stimulate the brain. We love this fella, he has the cutest face and is going to grown into a really handome goofy dog.
Get him while you can, the rough diamonds always have the most character.
x LizJuly 24, 2012 at 2:45 pm #110586lizaliserMemberThis fella is learning so so quickly. We are in danger of keeping him ourselves he is so cute!
All three dogs had kennel cough all last week, they are much better now though.
Axel is now going to the back door to let us know he needs the toilet. He has learned how to lie down on command, it took about a minute to teach him this. He has great eye contact and knows what NO means. He sits quietly on the lead when I loop it over my front gate to go get our own dogs. He absolutley loves cuddles and is getting all his big teeth. Typical bouncy puppie, great with kids and other dogs. This fella will be medium sized and fully vaxcinated and wormed and should be neutered at 6 months. He is a find. Will make a great loyal family pet. He really likes being part of the family.
He is crate trained now and chews his own toys and not so much of my shoes!
Come get this boy, he is beautiful!August 20, 2012 at 8:27 am #111036kaydoyleMember

He’s a beautiful boy and is learning so fast – he’ll be doing calculus next. He is in a wonderful foster home – getting a great start in life that will stand to him forever.
September 6, 2012 at 12:14 pm #110969lizaliserMemberAxel is doing great. Sorry for not updating in a while but we are moving home and life got in the way. He is a sweet little boy who likes nothing better than to lie next to you on the couch and catch up on his soaps. He has sit, stay and down commands off to a tee, (most times) . If you are cooking in the kitchen he sits and watches you for scraps.
He is very quiet and is now crate trained, not a peep out of him all night. He is also house trained. He now has all his second set of teeth and has developed a soft mouth, no more nipping from axel, though plenty of mouthing when he is playing. Manys a time I have left him downstairs when I have work to do upstairs and come downstairs expecting him to have eaten something like the remote control but it just has’nt happened, he is a bit of a star pupil. Thats not to say he hasnt ruined a few plants in the garden but he really is a well behaved puppy, much better than our two when they were pups. Nora, our german pointer has not really taken to him, she is a very highly strung dog and likes to be the centre of attention and axel is getting the limelight so we are looking forward to going back to a 2 dog house, however, if we had no dogs in the house I would take him like a shot. a great dog for a family or a house with another placid dog.

Hi there, I adopted Axel (now known as Oscar!) back in mid September….. so these are very overdue photos
I think this little man has adjusted very well to life on the farm! He refuses to be left in the yard when there is work to be done, he especially loves ploughing, with the door open, so he can launch himself out and chase seagulls! Then hops back in for a little snooze, till yabadabadoo hes off again! He got banned from my bed cos he snores and wriggles so hes taken up residence in HIS leather chair by the fire…..not happy if fire not lit or some alien is sitting in his chair!
I like to think hes a lucky happy man, lives life free range out all day stealing laundry or driving tractors and best of all snooping around the hedgerows while Im ridding one of the horses!
Ill try and send on some better photos soon.
