Charlie is a 12 year old Pom who was surrendered into the pound as his owner died
He is wormed, fully vaccinated, microchiped and neutered. He has had a vet check and is in fantastic condition, no medical issues. He is a happy, spritely man!
Charlie walks great on the lead, travels well in the car, is fully house trained and LOVES CATS…..

He is a great little man with plenty of pep in his step. He has obviously been well looked after up to now.
charlie1.jpgI met the fab Charlie over the weekend and he is a real gem. Happy out just pottering around the kitchen and has a keen eye for any bits of sausage which may escape your plate!
Pomeranians are a wonderful breed with great personalities and loads of character. It’s not uncommon for this breed to reach well into their late teens so Charlie has a good few years of walkies and belly rubs ahead of him!! If I age half as well as Charlie I would be delighted, he is in great shape and still very much loves his walks!
Charlie has settled in really well here. He is a dote. He has so many positive traits. He is very good with our two cats – just curious but never aggressive. I haven’t taken him in a car yet but I’m told he loves travelling by car. He is fully house trained, very cuddly and lovable.
He looks a little sad sometimes – I wonder if he is missing his owner, but I think he’s generally feeling a little more happy and settled as each day passes. A walk always perks him up. Charlie loves his walks – and you would never guess he was 12 years old. He likes to be taken out regularly for little walks so he needs to be homed to a relatively active person. He is very good on the lead.
All round he is such a great little dog – I feel so happy to be fostering him. He’s as good as gold, and his funny little antics keep us smiling. More photos etc to follow soon.
Charlie.jpgI know – he has a very lovely little face. Sometimes I call him "Prince Charles" when he’s sitting up in his basket looking quite princely. Also – he has this habit of burrying his head in the cushions on the couch and then popping up with the cutest little fuzzy halo of orange fur.
But he’s not a prima donna, just a down to earth little dog who has had a tough time recently.
Little Charlie had his neutering operation on Monday. He is a brave little chap – he doesn’t like wearing his lamp shade collar and looks sadly at me! It’s so hard when you can’t explain that it’s only for a few days.
So I was driving back from Cork a few days ago and spotted a little kitten in the grass verge beside the Motorway – stopped the car, managed to grab him and took him home. He’s too cute. We have 2 cats and Charlie here at the moment, kitten thinks Charlie is his mammy and keeps trying to get into Charlies basket with him, sit under him and brush up against him. Charlie is gentle as always. Can’t blame kitten, Luca, for wanting to snuggle up to Charlie as he’s so unbelievably cuddly. Charlie is developing and settling in more and more every day, he’s so happy to have his collar off now after his op. He played with a little
ball today like a puppy, in a really funny way like I’ve never seen him do before, also he likes to sit up on the back of the couch and rest his head on my shoulders. He’s like one of those neck rests for long haul flightsHere’s a short video taken when they met…
Things in our house are going so well with our little family of foster animals. When we took on Charlie at first I was hopful that the two older cats and himself could all live happily together. Kathy cat-tested Charlie before he came to stay with us – thanks Kathy. I hoped for the best – but I couldn’t have imagined just how relaxed and happy our little brood of cats and Charlie could be together. It has been great. And the best thing about it all has been the unexpected arrival of our little kitten Luca (she’s a girl I now realise). Herself and Charlie are pretty much inseperable. It’s lovely to see them together. Here are a couple of snaps – not the greatest quality but you get the picture. Charlie on the couch with Luca – the little black blob at his nose. And the two of them at the kitchen door – wondering when the rain will stop and they can go out and play in the yard…

Charlie is a pet, he is such a very good little dog, I find myself telling him that several times a day. We got a new foster kitten from Cat’s Aid yesterday – I explained the situation to them with Charlie being in need of a little friend. Along came a kitten who we have named Emily (re her name – the clue is in the picture below). Charlie is so gentle with her and curious. The look on his little face as he watches her mesmerised is so cute. Emily is not yet playing with Charlie – but based on progress so far I think within a week or two they will be great pals. For the moment here is a pic of Emily. Once we know a little more about her I may give her her own thread. If anyone is interested in homing Emily please PM me or call 087 643 7386.
Emily Small.jpgCharlie and Emily are now best friends. As i type they are playing chasing around the sofa. I read in a book that Poms are recognised as being good with other animals particularly if they are socialised at a young age. So Charlie is typical of the breed in that regard. I had charlie sitting up on my lap at the kitchen table last night. It really does feel like holding a big cuddly toy. He has the most fantastic coat which is strangely low maintainence. He doesnt shed either.
