This beautiful girl is great with children and other dogs. She will be medium in size when fully grown

February 1, 2011 at 2:51 pm #104291NiamhandSeanMemberHi,
Sorry for the delay in posting about this lovely girl – a mixture of a hectic weekend and broadband issues.
We picked up Kelly on Friday from Kathy. She is even more beautiful in the flesh. She has such a gorgeous soft coat. I could just rub her for the day.
Kelly was great in the car on the way home. She sits quietly in the backseat with her doggy-seatbelt on!
When we got to the house she got the standard excited welcome from our dog Buddy. She was a little taken aback at first but the two of them were playing together in no time! They have become great pals already and have had no problems sleeping beside (or on top!) of each other.
Kelly’s first night was hassle free. A small cry when we went to bed (she really loves her cuddles, so didn’t like us leaving!), but that didn’t last long.
She had a small accident on the first night, but sure she had a traumatic day, so that’s allowed. There haven’t been any accidents since. She has shown great house mannersKelly has been a dream dog to look after. I’ll update with more pics and more info later on
Kelly Asleep.jpgFebruary 3, 2011 at 12:29 pm #98671NiamhandSeanMemberWe dropped the lovely Kelly over to the vet yesterday. She is getting spayed today. Even the vet nurse commented on how gentle and lovely she is
It was a quiet house last night without her. Buddy seemed much quieter too, I think he missed his new pal.
I’ll take this quiet time to give you some info about Kelly:
– She is definitely house trained
– She sits on command
– She has given me her paw on command sometimes too (I’m not sure if it’s been coincidence or obedience, so I’ll keep working on it!)
– She loves her food, so training will be much easier
– She is great with people
– She was a bit overawed on her first walk when she saw so many dogs. Her confidence always grows as the walks go on though and she is getting much more confident with new dogs. She doesn’t show any aggression, she was just getting very timid. It won’t take her long to get over this though!
– She doesn’t pull on the lead, but she likes to zig-zag across smelling everything so I don’t think she is too used to being on a lead. Again, this will improve with time.
– She has the softest coat ever!!I promise more pics soon – it’s been hard to get a pic of her and Buddy sitting still though!
February 4, 2011 at 5:38 pm #85393ColganFamilyMemberHad the absolute pleasure of minding this little girl today complete with "cone"! She is a real sweetheart and greeted all here with hugs and licks even though she must have been feeling really strange from the operation, the cone and being landed in a totally unfamiliar environment. Took it all in her stride. A total beauty in every way.
February 4, 2011 at 7:42 pm #88791NiamhandSeanMemberI collected Kelly from her visit to Susan’s this evening. Thanks to Susan and her gang for making Kelly welcome for the day
Once again Kelly was a dream in the car. She just sat in the back quietly again.
You would never guess that she had an op yesterday. She is in great form. Buddy gave her a big welcome and they got back to playing on the rug in the sitting room straight away!
Kelly is munching on a bone there now as I write this
She is such a happy little girl and will make some family very happy!

Kelly Asleep.jpgFebruary 7, 2011 at 11:19 pm #99527LuvMyFurKidsMemberKelly met her forever family last night and it was love at first sight on both sides…..she will be doted on and no doubt spoiled rotten.
She heads off later in the week to her forever home…..Buddy will be very sad to see his very own little buddy babe head off but they will be still living in the same hood and may have a play date or a date on the beach even…..very romantic with the weekend that is in it!
February 8, 2011 at 2:38 pm #82212TrinityMemberDelighted for both Kelly and her new family Did home visit for them and Kelly is gonna have happy life with loads of fun as well as Trinity had during visit
February 10, 2011 at 9:10 am #91145NiamhandSeanMemberWell the lovely Kelly went off to her lovely new home yesterday.
Barry came and collected her and off she went wagging her tail!We will really miss this little girl. She had become part of the family in the short time she was with us.
Poor Buddy kept searching the rooms for her after she leftBut…Kelly really is gone to a lovely family and we know she is going to have a great life with them, just as she deserves!
Thankfully they live close to us, so there will definitely be some play dates for Buddy and Kelly in Killiney Hill soon
Barry texted us last night to say that Kelly, who will now be known as Penny (which suits her perfectly!), has settled in well straight away
February 10, 2011 at 11:40 pm #83474DID RescueKeymasterPoor Buddy loosing his play mate.
Give him a hug and tell him a big thank you from DID for minding Kelly so well.
I fell so sorry for them in this situation as there is no explaining where their friend has disappeared to
Sorry Buddy but maybe you will help another girlfriend. It never ceases to amaze me just how much the existing dogs do to teach these new inmates how to be a dog again, how to trust, love, play and be part of a family maybe for the first time.
They really are all stars and are helping their own kind to move on.I am always reminding all of mine that once upon a time they were in that situation…….mind you they have well forgotten all that.
Three cheers for all the fosterer’s dogs
February 11, 2011 at 8:19 am #91887ColganFamilyMemberCouldn’t agree with you more, Marie. The difference my own lot make to the lives of our fosterdogs is amazing and they provide something that we humans, with the best will in the world, just can’t!! I have seen my mob become teachers, pals, sleeping buddies, playmates, wrestling partners, mammies, daddies and all-round packmates to lots of little frightened and unloved creatures that have landed in my house.
So, Buddy, you are a hero – just like all the fosterer’s dogs!!February 12, 2011 at 2:14 pm #81419LuvMyFurKidsMemberPenny is settling in just fantastically, so calm and gentle with her new family. She was heading out the door for a huge walk up Killiney Hill with her forever family. They all love her so much already.
