Moon 1.jpgAugust 19, 2011 at 9:49 pm #106093doedoeMemberWoody met with his new owner Jim today and it went very well so this little man is going to his new forever home tomorrow. We are delighted for woody but are dreading saying goodbye as we have got very attached to this lovable pet. Hope Jim enjoys him as much as we did as he is a rascal and always up for fun.
August 26, 2011 at 4:03 pm #106125LuvMyFurKidsMemberJust spoke to Woody’s family and he was happily playing in the back ground while I was chatting to Niamh. He is a great social boy and very popular with everyone he meets. His playmates are two westie pups who he has play dates with….things are going great.
His Daddy says he is great little walker and loves to meet other dogs out and about and is so friendly to everyone. He wakes at 6.30am and makes his Dad bring him for a walk….then he tears around the back garden like to show off that he has been somewhere else. He gets two to three walks a day and now even takes a snooze in the afternoon on the couch with his Daddy he as been so good and not chewed a single thing he shouldn’t since he arrived.
Another very happy little woof woof…..who has settled in straight away.

Just a line to let you know that Woody is doing well in his new home (he is asleep beside me as I type). He knows well how to communicate with humans. For the first week he was wired. His favourite pastime was to look for the lead two or three times a day and whine and bark until he was taken out for a walk. When he got back after a walk it was play running in speedy circles in the garden. This week he has changed tack and is big into chilling out. He still likes his walk but will sit quietly in the car while I drive my daughter into town provided he gets a walk when the job is done.He is more relaxed about being on his own in the garden but I have to watch carefully from the window because no matter how often I pick up sticks stones and bits of wood, Woody will find the one that I missed even if he has to dig it out of the garden., He also has changed his breakfast menu from kibble to a slice of McCambridges bread toasted with butter. Bedtime is very interesting. So far I have won out but only just.
He got to visit the two westie X terrors. Woody does his own thing and is oblivious to the pack rules. The westies shadow him like store detectives follow a shoplifter. When Woody has enough socialising and has created enough havoc he comes over to me and lets me know that it is time to go.
Had Woody with the vet this morning. He sounded very chesty for the last couple of days and was retching occasionally. Fortunately there is nothing seriously wrong and his lungs and heart are clear. After a few minutes in the examination room he decided it was time to go home and let us all know.
I attach 2 photos. Woody in his favourite chill spot, the couch ( blame Rita for giving him the habit)
and Woody turning the tables and shadowing the Westie X terrors.

Woody has been a very important part of the Cleary household for almost 6 months. He is a firm favourite with both my grown up children, neither of whom are at home at the moment and I think both of them miss Woody more than their dad. He keeps me on my toes and ensures that I get two or three walks every day. He has a nap between walks and I try to get some work done.
I have enclosed a couple of photos. As it happens all of them are of Woody in repose. One of them (sdc11028) is Woody parked in the middle of my bed supervising the springcleaning. Woody was at the groomers today and is looking very spruce (sdc11065). The photo of Woody on the couch with the teddy (sdc10972) was taken mid October. I think that Teddy has long since bitten the dust. Woody is a great believer in the maxim that a good shaken never did anyone any harm. Nowadays his toys are usually based on strong rope and even that is not safe if he decides to have a good chew. He has been good around the house and in the car and a lump of rope is a lot better than the sofa. He hasn’t chewed any more seatbelts either.
He is a great little watchdog, who regards it as his duty to tell me when someone is coming near my house or to my next door neighbours. His favourite perch for this duty is the foot post at the end of my bed which allows him to see out the window. I have just had to interrupt this email to bring him down to the front door to assure him that there is no danger of an intruder. He must have believed me because he is taking another nap. Although he is a good watchdog he is extremely social with visitors. I have some men here at the moment doing some work and while he tells me that the van is outside as soon as it comes to a halt outside the house once they come in he wants to play. He also enjoys meeting other dogs in the park especially the young dogs who will play wrestle with him usually in the muckiest patch in the park. He is definitely a teenager at the moment which can lead to interesting times when we are out for a walk. Lately we have had fierce arguments over which route to take and if I insist he has been known to lie down with his head between his paws and sulk, refusing high grade treats/bribes such as chicken as if they were lumps of kibble. Having said that we would not part with him for all the tea in China.
