November 10, 2010 at 5:30 pm #102505RachelAMemberFernando’s been with us since Saturday and is doing well. He was very nervous: following us around the apartment and then hiding if we looked at him. Now he’s more confident and happily trots around on his own . He’s in his element snuggled up with one of us on the sofa.
He’s only had one accident toilet-wise. He likes very short walks, away from the traffic which he seems pretty scared of. He has cried each night, being left on his own in the kitchen. I’m sure this will get better once he knows and trusts that he’ll be loved and treated better than in his past.
A very sweet, very placid doggy!
November 10, 2010 at 5:44 pm #102506Joan KirwanMemberHi Rachel , we fostered Princess the chihuahua and she was the same . I would suggest maybe putting a hot water bottle under his blanket st night ( its a comfort thing ) or what Princess loved was a blanket wrapped around her in her bed. she would sometimes hid her head under the blanket. We sent the blanket with her to her new wonderful Mammy and she still uses it . hope it helps Joan

November 17, 2010 at 4:13 pm #102710PhilandAngelaMemberFernando (new name to come) has settled in happily. It’s like he has always lived here. Making himself at home and is such a pet. A real softie. Have had two slight snaps from Twig, who is asserting his position but he is quietly ignored by F so all well. They enjoy their walks together and F is starting to eat better than I expected. He is quite thin. We just love having him, a sweetheart

Since Twiggy recovered from his second op they ‘charge’ around the house, which is good as they haven’t had any walkies over the snowy period.
They hate it and are so small tend to disappear into it. They shake with the cold particularly Twiggy who has no hair on his chest or tum. Thankfully back with the walks again since the week-end suitabily coated! The get loads of attention when out walking, particularly when they have their coats on.
Will get my daughter’s to pass on a photo. They are loved to bits and we can’t imagine life without them now. They minute my bum hits a chair they are both over for their cuddle and would stay there forever if I had nothing else to do.My grandchildren also love them especially Adam my 3 year old grandson. Twiggy can be a little grumpy with them if he is getting attention or on someone’s lap. Has improved a great deal since Baily arrived. Baily eating much better and putting on weight. Twiggy’s weight may become a problem as he would eat continually, and he too was hard pushed to eat when we first had him home. Just looking at the past photo’s of him he had a much better figure. I put it down to no exercise over the duration of the two operations and of course followed by the snow.
Hope to put this to rights from now on. They are both very happy and it gets better every day.
