This little angel is gone into foster with Stephanie
Thanks a million ![]()
This is our first time to foster a dog & can’t believe what a dote we’ve got to mind. We have her a week now, she was very nervous when she arrived, particulary wary of my husband, cowering away from him & sticking v.close to me. That has all changed now!!! She has a lovely personality. Friendly & adores affection. She is polite and a little timid. She doesn’t get over excited (although gives you a great welcome
) and just puts her two paws up on you when you give her the nod. We have three children 8,5 and 2 and she has been fine with them. Once she got used to their sudden movements and their voices she was grand, goes to them for a rub now rather than hiding behind the sofa. She gets on well with Lady our ten yr old dog and vice versa. She is still in heat so have just brought her on a couple of short walks. She was easy to manage. We are trying to do some training with her..comands but are really too busy spoiling her for the moment. She is eating well and the scrawny look is gone. I gave her a bath, which she had no strong objection to, she has a silky coat, really short haired. Has a touch of kennel cough for past 2 days so giving her exputex & honey. Will post again with photos I’ve taken. She’s a lovely size, perfect for cuddling up on your lap. She has sleep quietly in the kitchen every night, it’s been lovely to see her unwind & relax as the days have gone by.
Yet ANOTHER splendid little JRT, it breaks my heart so see so many great little dogs landing in the pound. Glad she has a nice foster family though, gives her the chance to show her true self, in safety.
Busy house this weekend, lots of people coming and going. Penny reacted great, was very well behaved and friendly with everyone. Slight improvment with the kennel cough, hopefully will be fully recovered soon. Almost must out of heat as well (i think!) so husband brought her for a good walk today and again no bother with her. He’s working on getting her to sit on command….they’ll get there.
Penny, nice name for a pretty little dog. It must be nice to see dogs settling in their new environment, I certainly love reading about how they are getting along.
Penny came for a spin in the car with me today. She travelled very well and never budged from the passenger’s seat.
Then went for a good stroll together. Lying flat out here beside me. Getting on great with the kids and our dog Lady. Leaves her bed to lie beside Lady from time to time. Getting through plenty of chewy bones, spends plenty of time in the garden especially when she can coax Lady to go with her.
Photos will appear v.soon!

Thank you for posting the recent photos of Elsa (Penny), lovely to see her so content and very nice to read her up-date, she clearly gets along with your own dog. I will continue to follow her path, I love JRTs to bits.
Thanks Indianna, I know JRTs are the best, and of course JRT/Collie X are great too as that would best decribe our ‘ole girl’ Lady
. Penny continues to do well, gave her another bath today as she was getting sticky from her exputex & honey doses, it is doing the trick though, her cough is all but gone. She is looking v.white & adorable at the moment. Can’t believe the amount of JRTs that appear in ‘urgent action dogs’
I think they are the ideal dog for city living and city size gardens!!
I agree with every bit of your blog and I too have a JRT x Collie (from Ashton), superb. Penny is a little beauty and I very much enjoy reading about the dogs in foster and seeing them blossom into happy, well-cared for dogs.
Penny is in top form and making a great companion in our household. Reponds very well to her name (probably because my daughter says @ 100 times a day
) & is reponding to the ‘sit’ command, well most of the time. Has been for several walks in couple of busy parks. Has behaved v.well, doesn’t pass too much remarks on other dogs and doesn’t mind people coming up to her and some kids have come up to pet her. Two more photos of her to appear soon. Likes to chew! ![]()
I imagine that Penny has her paws firmly under the table and will, no doubt be training her foster family in the ways of the Jack Russell Terrier. Smart little dog, how is she getting on? Dog friendly?
What is the perfect Penny up to today? She and Star are wandering around in my tiny mind at the moment.
I went to visit this fantastic little girl yesterday in her wonderfully loving foster home. She is a beautiful little dog with loads of personality and who is really gentle and sweet natured. She has come on in leaps and bounds with the care of her kind foster mum and dad. This little girl clearly had a sad past but looks really well with a happy future ahead of her. ![]()
A nice blog for a smashing little JRT but I am still reeling and boiling having read the blog for Ollie and his GSD mate. Both been sent back to rubbish, poor, poor dogs. At least Penny is safe and cared for, she really is lovely.
