November 5, 2009 at 12:16 pm #89452IndiannaMemberNellie looks like a very well bred Patterdale Terrier to me, grand little dogs, very keen.
November 8, 2009 at 5:34 pm #89591animalhelperMemberYou’re right, she def is a patterdale! She was due to go to her new home today but her owners never turned up Lovely little doggie.
November 8, 2009 at 9:53 pm #89619IndiannaMemberNever turned up! Well, they don’t deserve to have her, unless there was a very good reason for not collecting her. It would have been easy enough to pick up a telephone and let the home know and arrange another collection time. I don’t think Nellie will be waiting long – Patterdales are fantastic dogs, but so are Jack Russells, German Shepherds and everything in between. Good luck Nellie.
November 9, 2009 at 12:56 pm #89638IndiannaMemberDid Nellie’s potential family just evaporate into thin air? She is a cracking little dog, can’t believe she has landed in the pound and even worse, is still there!
November 9, 2009 at 2:09 pm #89645laineyMemberJust wondering…………….do they keep a record in the pound of the people who just "don’t turn up" having been approved to take one of the poor doggies?
I hope they keep some sort of "blacklist"!
It must be so frustrating for the pound staff.
November 10, 2009 at 10:17 am #89664Rach2eMemberMy last dog was a patterdale – they are beautiful little dogs, so clever & loving. Hope this girl finds a home soon
November 10, 2009 at 12:16 pm #89672IndiannaMemberMy usual question (sorry everyone, I know its boring but . .) what is Nellie like with other dogs? I am starting to look for a (small female) companion for my 4 year old Border Terrier although we still have our 2 old(ish) girls. Am in no great rush because I wouldn’t want to upset our ‘older ladies’ but if a suitable dog popped up I would hate to miss the opportunity. I know Patterdales are fantastic little dogs and you don’t really see many in dog pounds so was very surprised to see Nellie on the web site.

November 10, 2009 at 11:35 pm #89711geordieMemberhi nellie has been changed to abi
she is beautiful and we love her madly alreadyNovember 11, 2009 at 10:17 am #89709geordieMembernow abi (was nellie) is a lively gentle beautiful little girl highly intelligent my husband ken spent time with her this morning and she is learning to give the paw, she will sit on command. patterdale terriers are an english working dog there is a smooth coat and a rough coat abi is rough coat patterdales can be any colour including multi colour but the most popular colour is black which abi is with a small bit of white to the front. abi is a rare find you can ask any price in england for one of these dogs most breeders breed them as working dogs and shun the silly people buying them as the in thing.
abi this morning fixated on a neighbours cat and the postman not in a aggresive way just watching no barking. likes to look out the window for fear she is missing some thing. she needs plenty of exercise she gets restless otherwise loves playing with a ball normal dog balls are no good to her she will chew through it so i will be buying a industrial ball today. sorry for going on but i love this breed with passionNovember 11, 2009 at 10:25 am #89713geordieMember
November 11, 2009 at 1:06 pm #89721IndiannaMemberGreat images of Abi and her new best friend! You are quite right regarding not seeing too many Patterdales in dog pounds. I would say they are top of the terrier list, lots of exercise and stimulation and apparently they are very good at climbing (you know, over fences, out of enclosures etc). That said they really are fantastic little dogs in the right hands and she is a cracker, what a find!
