I found Sheila in the Phoenix Park in October of last year. She was running along the street looking very lost and worried. She was in a terrible state; with bad mange and very underweight. I took her home and she spent her first week just sleeping and eating and wasn’t bothered with me or the other dogs.
We took a good few trips to the vet to treat her mange and also a severe ear infection she had. She turned out to be only half her bodyweight and spent weeks being spoiled with rice, mash, mince and chicken. After a while she started playing with other dogs and I was able to let her off the lead and found that she has perfect recall.
Now Sheila is at her perfect body weight and is perfectly healthy. We all thought she was about 4 years old, but she turned out to be 7.5 years after we found that she was microchipped. The vet nurse talked to the 3rd party contact, who told her that Sheila spent her whole life in a back garden in Lucan. After she was threatened with legal action by her neighbour, the owner put Sheila in her car and dropped her in the Park.
It is hard to put her personality into a few lines; Sheila is the perfect dog!
She is very loyal, completely housetrained, great with other dogs, has great recall, sits and gives the paw and lies down on command, is very affectionate, loves playing when out and is happy to curl up in a corner when in the house. She is also great with kids; my friend has a 1 year ols son and Sheila is very gently with him and lets him crawl all over her. She barks when someone is at the door and stops when the door is opened. She is great on the lead and never ventures far when off. She loves other dogs but is even more focussed on people and is happy just to have company.
This beautiful girl is now looking for her forever home. Whoever gives this to her will be repaid with a lot of love and the most loyal dog they could get. Sheila is wormed, vaccinated and microchipped. If you would like to meet her, please send in an application form now.
