I went up to Ashton yesterday to walk the doggies and came home with a puppy. A little 8 week old terrier x with a definite mix of bull terrier landed in the pound. I am guessing breed and age here. Hopefully can get some photos up later. He is a fiesty little chap with a big appetite and a lot of attitude. I had to leave him on his own yesterday evening and he managed to escape/burst out of the cage. Fault of the cage. He had pulled down quite a large cushion and was hanging out there when I got back. I have no idea how kitty and puppy made it through the evening, but the cat was sitting looking out the front window waiting anxiously for me. This little fella is very playful, he has a bit to go with the toilet training and would do well to socialise with another puppy or even gentle dog. His name is Markey and he has a chocolate brown shade with white markings on his coat.

Markey has stayed two nights with me now. He is full of beans, and so affectionate. As he has to stay alone in the crate from 6pm-11.30pm, I keep him out all day. I think we have turned a corner with the toilet training and he has started to use the newspaper that I have set down by the door.Still a few accidents. He likes to fall asleep in my arms during the day. At night he settles down quickly enough with just a little whimpering. He is awake early, but after a bit of play, I managed to get back in again for another 3 hours. I blame the cat, she is mooching about and it disturbs him.
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN TAKE THIS LITTLE FELLOW INTO FOSTER, I AM SURE IT WILL ONLY BE FOR A VERY SHORT TIME. HE IS A LITTLE PET. THANKSJuly 17, 2009 at 5:34 pm #81387kaydoyleMemberThis is now sorted
July 20, 2009 at 11:47 pm #81740CathyMemberSo Markey ended up with me..he’s my first ever staffie and what a sweetie..
He is a funny feisty little man.. jumping up and down in the garden trying so much to get Missy and Pal to notice him and then he had a game of tugga with my 5 yr old Luke.
He is nippy but that is only to be expected from an eight week old and he is responding very well when we say OUCH!!
Markey is leaving me tomorrow but he has been nothing but an absolute pleasure …
Hope he finds his forever home soon …July 21, 2009 at 11:41 am #86548ladlesMemberMarkey is a great little lad. So glad that his fostering is working out. Thanks to everyone who has helped this baby. I have been thinking a lot about him. He has so much personality. I miss him about the house, can not say the same for the cat. I think she is relieved. He did touch noses with her but than took to chasing her. It was quite funny to watch. He is such a cuddle boy, I hope he finds his forever home soon. He will be a loyal and loving dog to have.

He was like a tornado He went all night without a peep and no accidents He is having great fun with the other 4 and using up his excess energy He is afraid of our cats and as soon as he sees them he runs away He is like a whirlwind but as soon as you pick him up all he wants are cuddles

July 24, 2009 at 4:11 pm #86665ladlesMemberIt was my lucky day today, I got to cuddle Markey again over in Katy’s. I would like to think that he remembered me as he seemed so excited, friendly and full of kisses. He has landed on his feet for now. He is the little man of the house. What a personality. He was crashed out on his back without a care in the world when I left.

August 5, 2009 at 11:15 pm #87017ladlesMemberWhat a lovely photo of Markey, looks as if he is grown up a tiny bit. Delighted to hear he is such a good little fella and gets on with everyone. Thanks for posting the photo, it’s really nice to see how the dogs that you know a little are getting on. He seems to be having a lovely time at your house and I am sure will miss you when he finds his forever home. Thanks for the kindness.

Our Nelson is 2 years old now and he was a foster with Susie Duff(Brady) when we adopted him as a baby and it was the best thing we ever did,Markie looks like his twin!
Nelson is the sweetest, gentlest dog and has a lot of the loving and loyal traits that come with the breed, having met Markie he has the identical attitude to life,I just want to love you and be your best friend.Markie is one of those babies who just wants a snuggle and a little whisper in his ear.August 13, 2009 at 5:41 pm #87321minamberMemberHas Markie been adopted yet ?
