Exercise & Play for dogs

Dogs aren’t just pets — they’re athletes, thinkers, and explorers.
Regular exercise.

Physical Exercise Ideas

Classic for a reason. It builds speed, focus, and recall skills.

  • Start with short throws.

  • Use soft toys or tennis balls.

  • Teach “Drop it” to make it structured play.

Change your route — new scents and sights stimulate your dog’s brain.
Try letting your dog sniff freely for a few minutes every walk — it’s mentally enriching and reduces stress.

Set up low jumps, tunnels, or cones at home or in a park.
These games boost coordination and trust between you and your dog.

Gentle on joints and great for energy-burning — ideal for Retrievers or dogs recovering from injury (always supervise).

Signs of Over- or Under-Exercise

It’s possible to overdo it — or not do enough.
Watch for these signs

  • Restlessness, barking, or chewing

  • Weight gain

  • Poor sleep

  • Limping, stiffness, or excessive panting

  • Reluctance to walk

  • Irritability or fatigue

🩺 If you notice these symptoms, reduce intensity or consult your vet.
