Teagan 6/7 yr old Black German Shepherd HOMED

Postby Mobrowne » Fri Jan 17, 2020 7:31 pm

This gorgeous girl is Teagan, a 6-7 year old black German Shepherd Dog.

Teagan was taken out of the pound 4 years ago. She and a couple of her companions were surrendered by their owner who had fallen on hard times and couldn't care for the dogs properly any more. Teagan was in an okay state although somewhat neglected, but she was never mistreated or harshly handled. Teagan lived with me for several months to recuperate after coming out of the pound, so I know her pretty well myself. We got a great home for her and Teagan has lived a charmed life ever since.

Unfortunately however, Teagan's adopter's circumstances have changed to such an extent that Teagan is looking for a new home again.

Let me tell you a bit about this lovely dog.
Teagan is a very sweet-natured, gentle, healthy, (straight-backed) girl. She has a heart of gold, and is affectionate with humans of all ages. She is spayed and vaccinated. She is toilet trained, well behaved at home, walks well on a lead, and is particularly gentle and friendly with cats.

Although Teagan was not mistreated in her previous life pre-pound, she was not robustly socialised around strange dogs. This has made it difficult for her to regulate her behaviour around unknown dogs. She barks and gets quite upset when she sees unknown dogs approaching. She needs a rural home where things can be pretty calm for her, with places to exercise where she does not meet strange dogs too often.

Teagan is absolutely fine with dogs she has got to know. She lived very happily with my own dogs (another GSD and an elderly little dog), without a hint of bother after coming from the pound, and since being adopted has lived peacefully with another dog too. We also know that she lived with other dogs before she was originally surrendered to the pound.

Apart from the reactivity towards other unknown dogs, Teagan is a happy and fun-loving dog who enjoys long rambles, during which she likes to stay quite close to her people. She enjoys training and enrichment for fun at home, but cannot focus well in distracting environments.

She is a superb loving and loyal dog, who would be a very rewarding addition for a person who lives a reasonably quiet life and would like a constant companion.

So, you get the picture I'm sure! This is a gorgeous dog who'll fill your life with love, and who would be happiest living in a quiet, rural environment. We will not be placing her in a home in a built-up or busy area. She will be fine to live with another dog, preferably male and a larger breed, and as you can see from the pics, if you own cats, Teagan won't be complaining :D
