Oscar is a lovely boy who is settling very well. He will need to be in a house with another dog and with people around most of the time. He is house trained, loving and playful and good with cats. He loves his walks, however in the beginning he was very bad off lead and tended to take off and would sometimes disappear for minutes at a time (he always found his way back to us of course). This meant that we stopped letting him off the lead unless it was in the dog park etc. He walks well on the lead and in fact seemed less anxious when kept on the lead. In recent days I noticed a change for the better. He is paying more attention to his name and we have been doing some training with treats, I have been giving him a little more freedom and he is responding well and staying closer and coming when called. He is very easy around the house and after a good walk is happy to lie on the sofa or at our feet while we do our work. In the few weeks he has been with us he has relaxed and we have noticed a few little anxieties he exhibited initially have disappeared. For instance he was barking at any movement outside the front window - but in recent days one quick AH AH and he doesn't bark. He was also very protective and barked at people coming into the house. Again with a little more time and confidence in his surroundings and that too has stopped. He is a wonderful little man with many funny little habits and he makes us smile every day.

Long overdue update on Oscar. He is a little character and a very funny boy. He absolutely loved the recent snow, so much so that even when most of the snow had disappeared if he found a small remaining patch when we were out walking he would immediately run over and lie down on it. I think he would have spent all day playing in the snow if our Dog Darcy had been willing to stay out with him. We recently had him groomed, he was quiet matted so he got quite a short cut. He looks so cute (and a little bit hilarious- but in a fabulous way). He has gotten very good off lead and is learning to come back when called and to stay close. I still tend to keep him on the lead when we are in busy areas as sometimes people running about can spook him. He is very good around the house and is very affectionate.
