SPECIAL APPEAL....We urgently need your help...it has been a particularly difficult month so far with no end in sight...20 dogs in less than a week.

This is Dana who came into our care with an old injury...she is in the vets and may possibly lose her leg...we have luckily found foster for her when she is ready thanks to Elsa & family but it will be a long road....so if you can spare a few Euro to help Dana and all the others that we are trying to get out of the pound before the weekend...please click on the link below...thanks

Hi all, we picked Dana up yesterday from the wonderful vets in Terenure. This little girl is just beautiful. She has the most soulful eyes, she is affectionate and playful and trusting - despite everything she has been through in the last few weeks. Unfortunately she had the operation to remove her injured back leg during the weekend. But she is doing great after her operation - she is up and walking about with no problems. As her remaining hind leg strengthens it is obvious that she will have no problems at all. In fact the difficulty at the moment is keeping her from being too active :D - as she is meant to be taking it easy post op. But she is so inquisitive that she has already explored every inch of the garden, including the side passage which has a sloped flower-bed with many interesting bushes and shrubs to explore. She seems to love other dogs and is getting to know our two. She also has no issue with our two cats. She appears to be house trained with no accidents even during the night. Basically she is a little sweet-heart.

Dana has been with us for over a week now and she is doing really well. Her stitches are all but healed and they will be removed on Wednesday. She is a beautiful girl, so affectionate and sweet. She is also still a young dog so quite mischievous at times - you have to keep an eye on slippers, shoes and the recycling in particular. We have started going for short walks (15/20 min) and she really enjoys them although she is still nervous when leaving the house and getting into the car initially. I know from experience that that wears off quickly and before long she will be bounding out to the car happily. She loves meeting new dogs and sniffing at everything we pass. And of course getting endless attention and compliments from all the people we meet, she is so gorgeous that very few people can pass her by without stopping to say hi. She is wonderful in the house, house trained and relaxed around most house hold noises. Like most dogs who have been through tough times she likes to be with people and follows us around the house. She does not like being on her own and we had a few tricky nights at the beginning. Our two dogs usually sleep upstairs but I try to keep the fosters downstairs as I don't want to start a habit that their new family might not be happy with. She became anxious when left alone and found it hard to settle. Now our younger dog Darcy sleeps in the room with her and she is happy with his company. But it is very understandable that she feels anxious with everything she has been through. She needs a home where there is someone present for most of the day, a home with another dog would be ideal but not essential.

Happy New Year everyone. Another year and a long overdue post for the lovely Dana. This little girl is doing really well. She is a loving trusting little soul and has really come out of her shell over the last month. She is such a happy bouncy puppy and the lack of a limb is not slowing her down or lessening her love for life in any way. After an initial slow and hesitant start she has come to love her walks with an heartwarming enthusiasm. She is now the first one queuing at the door when it's time to head out. To begin with we could only take her on short walks on the lead. Now we are giving her a little more freedom and she loves sniffing and exploring and occasionally having a bit of a run. She is great with everyone we meet and is always a huge hit as she is adorable and everyone is interested in meeting her and hearing her story. She loves other dogs and children of all ages. She would do best in a home with another dog as she gets a little anxious when she is left on her own - but the company of another dog - if the humans are out - is more than enough to keep her calm. She really is a stunning dog, full of character and love. I will post a few photos of the beautiful girl... as soon as I find the lead to connect my camera to the computer!!
